ReplyDeleteOSU - Though Mr. Tressel may find it hard to play his old team, his boys will be ready for the game. They'll be gunnin' to put the national championship game behind them and kick some ass.
Tennessee - Cal will be energized for this game after the comments made by that brassy Les Miles, however, my Vols will be victorious in the end. Perhaps I should don the cheerleading uniform again...
Notre Dame - Notre Dame has baby Clausen? Well, that's good...if you aren't a ND fan! Even if he is supposed to be the best Clausen, take it from a Vol, he ain't worth it! Still think ND will pull this one out though.
BC - I'm goin' with the ol' home team on this one.
Ohio - I didn't know Gardner-Webb had a football team. So, I'm pickin' the Bobcats.
Dr. Funkenstein says:
ReplyDelete1. OSU big over YSU
No jokes here, I'm honestly disappointed the Bucks are playing a 1-AA team.
2. Cal over Tennessee
I think I picked Cal in this game last year, too. I'll probably be wrong again.
3. Georgia Tech over Notre Dame
This could be a rough start to a rough season for the Domers.
4. Boston College over Wake Forest
I don't expect Wake to completely fall back down from last year's magical run, but they're not winning the ACC again.
and the oddball game this week is
5. Ohio over Gardner-Webb
The Runnin' Bulldogs have a young team and are playing out of their league. The Bobcats want another shot at the MAC championship.

OSU def. YSU -
ReplyDeleteEven Youngstown students are Ohio State fans.
Tennessee def. Cal -
Shouldn't be the blowout it was last year, but Rocky Top still wins.
ND def. GT -
Tech will be a much better team without Reggie Ball, but they still have a lot of question marks coming into the season.
Wake def. BC -
Nobody gives the Deacons any credit. They were a good (not great) team last year returning most of their starters. Don't expect them to go back to the cellar quietly.
Ohio def Gardner Webb -
DBC has never heard of Gardner Webb, but doesn't think he can take on the entire Ohio football team, even if they are from the MAC.
Batman:
ReplyDeleteOSU, Cal, ND, BC, Ohio.
I wrote a full length write up but for some reason it didn't go through the first time.
Man Getting Hit by Football says...
ReplyDeleteOSU - Youngstown State's team nickname is the Penguins. Has anyone ever seen a penguin in Youngstown? Can penguins even exist in the climate of Youngstown? I've never been to the metropolis known as Youngstown, but, I'm going to guess the answer is no to both questions. For that reason alone, I pick the Buckeyes.
California: I remember that the Golden Bears victimized me incredibly last year in this game. However, this game is at Cal, the Golden Bears want revenge for last season's debacle, and they have a Heisman Trophy front-runner in DeSean Jackson. And, nobody puts DeSean in the corner.
Notre Dame: Boy, I do hate myself some Fightin' Irish...but, the game is at South Bend, and that certainly counts for something. Plus, no Calvin Johnson and no Reggie Ball make Man Getting Hit by Football something something...
Boston College: The Demon Deacons (what is a demon deacon, anyways?) had a nice run last season, and all the more power to them. And my best friend is a student at the Wake Forest MBA school. Sorry Jon, but all instincts point towards an Eagles victory.
Ohio: Ok, first of all, Gardner-Webb's team nickname is the Runnin' Bulldogs. Apparently, the nickname "Stationary Bulldogs" was voted down by the G-W Athletics Department. For that reason alone, I should pick Ohio. But, I gave G-W a chance, and even went so far as to check out the University's website. When the front page of your University's homepage proudly touts that the entire campus has become tobacco free (and your University is in North Carolina, home of RJ Reynolds), either you're REALLY ballsy, or there's not too much going on at your school. I'm going to go with the latter.

ReplyDeleteosu - even the naysayers are picking osu... and i'm a naysayer!
tennessee - i was on business trip to california a while back and i'm pretty pissed that i had to come home, so screw cal!
georgia tech - i wonder if the best quarterback coach in the history of mankind (aka. charlie weis) will play in substitution for the missing brady quinn?
bc - always gotta pick this one for boston mike
ohio - gardner webb? seriously joe, i thought we were picking football games, not hillbilly moonshine matchups?!?!
