8 comments:

  1. 1. Ohio State vs. Michigan
W-OSU: (Insert disheartening comment here about OSU's loss to Illinois.) Mark my words, OSU will finish the season ranked #3.

    2. West Virginia vs. Cincinnati
W-WV: Does everyone remember Bob Huggins, Cincy's former basketball coach? I wonder what bar he's passed out in right now.

    3. Boston College vs. Clemson
W-Clemson: I originally had BC winning this but changed at the last minute.

    4. Purdue vs. Indiana
    W-Purdue: Hoosier daddy?!

    5. Duke vs. Notre Dame
W-Duke: Come on Joe. Bob Bookie's School For The Blind pee wee football team could beat Notre Dame.

  2. Ohio State def. Michigan - Let's give Lloyd something to remember us by in retirement.

West Virginia def. Cincinnati - It would be nice to move up one more spot in the BCS standings, but it doesn't really matter.

Boston College def. Clemson - I have no thoughts about this game.

Purdue def. Indiana - In the words of Jim Gaffigan, "We're from Indiana...and we're gonna move"

Duke def. Notre Dame - In Joe's Notre Dame post, the "don't want to lose your virginity to Jenna Jameson" analogy was priceless.

  3. Man Getting Hit by Football states:

Ohio State def. Michigan: The biggest question entering this game isn't which team will win the game, it's whether or not Lloyd Carr will be employed as the UM head football coach after it.

West Virginia def. Cincinnati: Two of the nation's classiest and most refined college football team fan bases clash in Cincinnati. I pick the Mountaineers because their fans carry muskets and moonshine into the stands, and Bearcats fans carry....357s and 40s.

Clemson def. Boston College: Three reasons to pick Clemson in this game. (1) BC has lost two straight games to inferior opponents; (2) Clemson is playing at home; and (3) Clemson QB Cullen Harper should be the ACC's QB Heisman Trophy candidate, not Matt Ryan.

Indiana def. Purdue: The definition of a pick 'em game. Who knows, and who cares.

Notre Dame def. Duke: Wow, I really hate both of these schools. And it makes me immensely happy that they're two of the worst teams in D-I college football. Is it possible that this game can end in a tie? Well, I guess I'll pick ND based on solely on the fact that it's a home game.

PS: Props to all of my fellow Guest Panelists for a very close and hard fought season thus far! I can only look forward to a great last few weeks of the regular season and bowl game season!

  4. Batman:

After a dismal week of picking, here goes nothing.

Props for the week: Illinois, Mark May, and radio stations already playing non-stop Christmas music.

    1. Michigan
What a tough pick, I just can't see Mich losing 4 consecutive times to OSU. I have been wrong plenty of times in life, including 17 times on this panel picking contest alone already! But I hope I am wrong with this pick.

    2. WV
Playing for the national championship. Should get the job done, but how many times has cincinnati burned me this year?

    3. Clemson

    4. Indiana
Watch Purdue just come out and pound IU, then I will realize something. Remember when Jerry told George that "if every instinct you have is wrong, then the opposite has to be right."
I lost a lot of time at work deciding on this game.

    5. Notre Dame
After dropping to the lowest point in ND history, they win a game.

A good discussion was brought up by Moderator Neff with ND and Weis. In this day and age, a contract shouldn't be for very long. Unless you have truly proven yourself and loyalty to the school, it doesn't make sense to ink someone long term. It's the students who end up paying for buyouts. On the same hand, Thad Matta's contract is too long.
College and pro athletics are all about winning now, and if you don't you're gone, even if it means a buyout.

  5. spamsandwichsan says...

    1. osu. we have bo biafra on our side, even if he has to spring himself from the mental house and make his way to ann arbor to blast some shitty punk music!

    2. wv. i won the rights to use the outhouse first on my last trip to WV. this may not sound very glorious, but since that thing was dug in 1950 and is almost poking through the seat, numero uno is quite an accomplishment!

    3. clemson. screw anything at is related to boston... except jessica simpson, since she is looking for a boston man.

    4. indiana. it's not that i hate purdue, but that damn train whistle is a joke. it should sound more like a '86 yugo that is still sitting on the lot.

    5. notre dame. if they can't beat duke, then i believe joe is right and weis is out! the only way duke will win is if they take charlie out the night before and treat him like a recruit... and buy him a bunch of strippers and KFC.

  6. Dr. Funkenstein says:

    1. Ohio State over m!ch!g@n - Henne and Hart complete 0-for careers, and Lloyd Carr takes one step closer to the door. (Note: I expect Carr to retire, not get fired.)

    2. West Virginia over Cincinnati - Good on the Bearcats for handing it to UConn last week, but WVU is a whole different beast.

    3. Boston College over Clemson - I like the Eagles to get off the schneid this week.

    4. Purdue over Indiana - The Old Oaken Bucket is lame.

    5. Notre Dame over Duke - Did I just pick the Domers to win? If they lose, Charlie Weis should resign before he gets to the locker room.

  7. Pat Head says:

    1. Ohio State beats Michigan - I think OSU will re-bound for the Michigan game. It will be close, with OSU on top.

    2. Cincinnati beats WVU: I made the mistake of picking against the Bearcats two weeks ago. I won't make that mistake again. Go Cats!

    3. Clemson beats BC: BC is spiraling out of the top 25 and they will continue when they lose to Clemson.

    4. Purdue beats IU: Purdue will come away w/ the Old Oaken Bucket

And the oddball game this week:

    5. Duke beats ND: ND has no soul this year or any reason to win.
