11 comments:

  1. 1. Ohio State vs. USC
W-USC: I'm sorry. I should go to a Catholic confessional after picking against OSU, however, my loyalty still sides with the Bucks.

    2. Wisconsin vs. Fresno State
W-Wisconsin: Can they win by a larger margin than last week's massacre? I say yes.

    3. Kansas vs. South Florida (Friday)
W-Kansas: I don't feel comfortable picking a Friday night game. It screws up my rhythm of making random guesses.

    4. Iowa State vs. Iowa
W-Iowa: If I lived in Iowa City or Des Moines I think I'd have to jam a fork in my eye.

    5. Michigan vs. Notre Dame
W-Michigan: Based on the performance of these schools in the past year, maybe this should be the odd ball game.

    6. Alabama A&M vs. Louisiana-Monroe
W-Bama A&M: My tarot card reader told me so.

  2. Nostrapigskinus Predicts:

USC def. OSU: Mark it down ladies and gentleman. This is the first time in the distinguished four year career of the Guest Panelist known in various forms as Ari the Greek, Man Getting Hit by Football, and Nostrapigskinus that he has picked AGAINST his beloved Buckeyes. I'm sorry to say, Buckeye faithful (myself included), but, I just don't see Sweater Vest & Co. pulling off the upset. That being said though, there's still a realistic chance that the loser could play in the national championship game. Did anyone think that OSU would be #1 in the BCS after losing to Illinois late last season?! Anything can (and usually does) happen!

Wisconsin def. Fresno State: With Beckum scheduled to be back in the lineup this week, the Badgers will probably have a bit too much firepower for the Bulldogs. But FSU head coach Pat Hill still wins the award for best mustache in all of college football.

Kansas def. South Florida: Toughest game of the week to predict. I'm picking Rock Chalk Jayhawk here because I watched a portion of the USF-UCF game last week, and the Bulls should have lost that game. Look for Kansas head coach Mangino to celebrate the victory after the game by trying to find the closest all-you-can-eat ice cream shop to Raymond James Stadium.

Iowa def. Iowa State: This football game is, by far, the most exciting event in the entire state each year. In second place, the Iowa State Fair. In third place, the Miss Iowa Beauty Pageant. Really, does anything else go on in that state in a typical year?!

Notre Dame def. Michigan: I must be one of the few Buckeye fans who hates ND more than Michigan. I actually have a lot more respect for Michigan and its football program/players than I do for ND. That being said, I'm only picking the Fightin' Irish because the game is at home.

Louisiana-Monroe def. Alabama A&M: These motherf*&!in' oddball games are gonna be the death of me.

  3. Hudy Delights picks of the week.

    1) USC over OSU - It pains me to pick this and of course I am hoping I am wrong, but it is tough to play on the west coast, and I cant remember the last time OSU won out in LA.
    2) Wisconsin over Fresno State - C'mon, seriously, Wisconsin should roll.
    3) South Florida over Kansas - only because S Florida is the home team and they usually play well against outside conferences.
    4) Iowa over Iowa State - ISU is the worst school in Big 12 history, nuff said.
    5) Notre Dame over Michigan - 2 poor teams with pathetic offenses, Michigan has the better D but since ND is at home I am going with the Irish (Besides, I love watching Michigan lose)
    6)Louisiana Monroe over Alabama A&M

    1. Ohio State over USC - i don't think OSU will actually win, but i must pick OSU so there isn't an internal conflict while watching the game. despite conspiracy theories about last week's performance, i think OSU will not be able to score points on USC defense, and field goals and missed extra points will not cut it. i just hope that if we are down 7 to 28 and there are 6 minutes left in the 4th quarter and it's 4th and 3 on USC 30 yard line, that tressel doesn't kick a field goal (see Browns vs. Cowboys this past weekend).

    2. Wisconsin over Fresno State - even after a slow start against marshall, they look pretty tough. wisconsin will be one of the teams (besides USC) that may give osu trouble...

    3. South Florida over Kansas - they seem to pull upsets against their ranked opponents, plus a narrow victory last week in OT may provide some extra motivation to get their act together if they want to be a BCS contender this year.

    4. Iowa over Iowa State - Iowa looks promising this year.

    5. Notre Dame over Michigan - as much as i hate to pick either team, i feel that ND has progressed a bit more than that team up north. michigan's offense still looks very unorganized, which is understandable knowing that lloyd carr's legacy playbook was drawn in crayon... 'to hell with michigan!'

    6. Alabama A&M over Louisiana-Monroe - i'm hoping Joe had a typo and meant A&W as in the root beer stand. as much as he likes to fire up the deep fryer whenever he gets the chance, joe has yet to master the art of cheese curds! maybe we can convince him to make some churro's using his patented doughnut recipe!

  6. Batman.

USC, WISC, Kansas, IOWA, MICH, LM.

Unfortunately, Ohio State cannot go to USC and win. Some teams look really good on paper but just don't get it done. Look at Michigan last year. It takes chemistry and luck and as well as talent and good coaching. Let's be honest, Tressel has not been a good coach in OSU's last 3 games.

I like Wisconsin to take home a victory as well as Kansas. I picked these teams because they are teams in perineally stronger conferences.

Iowa over ISU but this is a big rivalry game that I will be keeping my eyes on.

Michigan trumps Notre Dame because ND is just plain awful (but I said the same thing about Minnesota and look who's 2-0).

Finally trying to steal my third oddball game I am going with Louisana. Again I had to consult deep background to get this pick.

Good luck to all, and remember: It's not how you start, but how you finish that counts.

  7. Buckeye Cock says:

    1. OSU - This was very tough for me. If I were at the game in a stadium full of Trojan fans--oh wait--I WILL be at the game in a stadium full of Trojan fans! GO BUCKEYES!!!

    2. Wisconsin - Another good matchup. Not quite sure why Fresno is ranked so high but after coming from behind last week, I'm confident that the Badgers have the goods.

    3. Kansas - Yeah, Kansas has to travel across the country. Yeah, they might be severely over rated but I didn't like South Florida's performance last week.

4 Iowa - Can they finally win one? Yes.

    5. Michigan - Talk about battle of the teams that suck. One of these coaches should skip the game and head to Cali to watch OSU v USC.

    6. LA-Monroe - Let's not forget that this team almost between Arkansas last week.

  9. Pat Head’s Picks

    1. Ohio State over USC – Let’s face it, this is the only game anyone on this panel really cares about this week…sorry Hudy Delights. At the beginning of the season I probably still believed the Pac-10 was overrated. However, after losing to the number 4? team in the Pac-10, I’m going to shut up about them. I think the Buck’s will have a tough tough battle out there, but I’m gonna pick 'em. I don’t pick against my favorite team and I ain’t gonna pick against Joe’s. Plus, I hate those pretty boy Trojans!

    2. Wisconsin over Fresno State – Wisconsin had their scare in the first quarter or so of last week’s game. They’re gonna come out running all over Fresno State.

    3. South Florida over Kansas – I think I got burned on Kansas twice last year, but this time they ain’t gonna win. Welcome to Florida, the Thug State!

    4. Iowa over Iowa State – Umm…were there no SEC games to pick this week? I’m startin' to feel like a Big 10 fan. ICK!!!

    5. Michigan over Notre Dame – This could be as ugly as last year. I hate picking either team. I’m going w/ Michigan b/c I ain’t gonna pick a Classless (aka Clausen).

And the oddball game this week is:

    6. Louisiana-Monroe over Alabama A&M – The Warhawks are hungry for a win after nearly beating Arkansas. They’ll cream Alabama A&M.

  10. 1. Ohio State over USC - The Buckeyes left lots of unscored points on the field Saturday against Ohio. They're bringing them all to LA.

    2. Wisconsin over Fresno State - This has the makings of a game UW kicks themselves for scheduling for years, especially when you consider that the Badgers are often far from dominant in their early non-conference games, but they'll find a way to win.

    3. South Florida over Kansas - The Big East may be just 1 or 2 losses away from relegation back to non-BCS land, but I'm going to give the Bulls the benefit of the doubt here and pick them to get the win at home.

    4. Iowa over Iowa State - Iowa has rung up 88 points in 2 games to Iowa State's 92. Take the over.

    5. Michigan over Notre Dame - You know what's funny? In one year, Michigan has become so bad that losing these games wouldn't even hurt the Big 10 that much, because expectations are so low. That said, they'll find a way to win this one as the Irish are even worse.

    6. Louisiana-Monroe over Alabama A&M - Warhawks are much cooler than Bulldogs.

  11. OLD BAG OF MAN PICKS:
    1) OSU. TRESSEL'S BEANIE CHESS GAME WILL HAVE USC CONFUSED.
    2) WISCONSIN. WE DON'T NEED NO STINKIN' BADGERS. BUT WE NEED THEM TO WIN TO HELP THE BIG TEN'S IMAGE.
    3) KANSAS. AND THE KANSAS COACH LOSES 200 LBS BEFORE GAME TIME LIKE JARED FROM SUBWAY.
    4) IOWA. ONCE AGAIN, WE NEED BIG 10 HELP.
    5) MICHIGAN. BOTH ARE BAD. WISH THEY COULD BOTH LOSE.
    6) LOUISIANA-MONROE. NOT SURE WHY, JUST FLIPPED A COIN.
