3. Illinois vs. Penn State
4. Purdue vs. Notre Dame
5. Colorado State vs. California
And the oddball game this week is:

Buckeye Cock:
ReplyDelete1. OSU - Let's nut rush Beanie's progression against a lowly Minni team. Don't be surprised if Minni is up at the half.
2. Georgia - this should be interesting. Black out!
3. Penn State - Dark Horse Big Ten winner.
4. Purdue - Not buying Notre Dame with no offense. Wasn't Weis an offensive coordinator in New England. Fooled me.
5. Cal - Pac-10 at home
6. SD State - first win

OLD BAG OF MAN SAYS:
ReplyDelete1) OSU. HEY GOPHERS, WELCOME TO DIVISION 1 OPPONENTS.
2) GEORGIA. NOT SURE HOW ALABAMA GOT SUCH A HIGH RANKING. BUT I'M SURE THEY'LL FIND A WAY TO LOSE 3-2.
3) PSU. LOOK FOR THE GAME TO BE CLOSE AND FOR PATERNO TO HAVE THE RUNS AGAIN RIGHT BEFORE HALFTIME.
4) ND. I HATE VOTING FOR THEM BUT I HAVE TO IF I WANT TO MOVE UP IN THE STANDINGS.
5) CAL. DON'T PAY MUCH ATTENTION TO THAT SIDE OF THE U.S. BUT I HEAR THEY'RE GOOD.
6) SDSU. POTATAO FAMINE IN IDAHO. OH WAIT, THAT WAS A LIE. POTATOS ARE FINE.

ReplyDeleteOSU, Geo, PSU, ND, Cal, SDSU.
I am wondering if Penn State is the real deal this year.
I also booed Todd Beckman, but I also boo the Utah Jazz, who are my favorite sports team, on a nightly basis.
My picks for the first 4 weeks were so nauseating, that an Obama radio ad seems pleasant in comparison.
1. Minnesota vs. OSU
ReplyDeleteW-OSU: I hate to say it but I predict OSU unranked at the end of the season with additional loses to Penn State and Wisconsin.
2. Alabama vs. Georgia
W-Georgia: Georgia will win because 83% of the Alabama population can't read.
3. Illinois vs. Penn State
W-Penn State: Is Joe Pa dead yet?
4. Purdue vs. Notre Dame
W-Purdue: I'd pay big money if a nun from Notre Dame jumped out of Purdue's giant bass drum during half time.
5. Colorado State vs. California
W-California: Complete randomnisity. Yes, I made up that word.
And the oddball game this week is:
6. Idaho vs. San Diego State
W-San Diego State: Potato's only get you so far.
Nostrapigskinus Forecasts:
ReplyDeleteOSU def. Minnesota: But, like Ohio and Troy, it won't be an easy win (even if Beanie plays for a majority of the game). Minnesota is vastly improved over the 1 win team of a year ago. Heck, they even beat Florida Atlantic this year!
Georgia def. Alabama: For those of you who think this game will be close, you're sorely mistaken. 'Bama is overrated, and a good 1-2 years from REALLY competing and being a national player again. Beating an even more overrated Clemson team is not what I would call a major victory, even though the pollsters and the sports talkshow talking heads seem to think it is.
Penn State def. Illinois: Granted, the Nittany Lions haven't really played anyone of note (and that includes my graduate school alma mater, Syracuse), but they've been incredibly impressive. Over/under on number of PSU players arrested the week of this game is 2.5. Take the over.
Purdue def. Notre Dame: This game is not going to be pretty. ND is NOT back to its glory days, and Purdue hasn't beaten anyone of note (other than Joe's favorite directional Michigan college, Central Michigan). Whatever the total score over/under is, take the under.
California def. Colorado State: The Mountain West Conference season of dominance over the Pac-10 ends on Saturday in Berkeley. Thereafter, thousands of hippies celebrate the Golden Bears' victory by eating granola purchased from Whole Foods Market and going to a Buddhist spiritualism meeting.
San Diego State def. Idaho: On the subject of ugly games, yikes. I make two statements about the oddball game, yet again: (1) these games will be the SOLE reason I do not win the regular season championship; (2) why do the oddball games always inherently involve teams that are so incredibly horrible?
1. Ohio State over Minnesota - Kudos to Minnesota on a 4-0 start. Welcome to Big 10 play.
ReplyDelete2. Georgia over Alabama - This is the sort of game Nick Saban knows how to win: overmatched and on the road. That said, Georgia is rolling along at least until Florida.
3. Penn State over Illinois - Penn State could be the best team in the Big 10 right now. They are definitely the best offense. We'll see what happens when the defense starts to get tested.
4. Purdue over Notre Dame - I was watching something earlier in the week and this was someone's upset special. Is this even an upset?
5. Cal over Colorado State - Neither of these teams looks good. I'll take the Bears at home. The Pac-10 could really use this win.
6. Idaho over San Diego State - Cal Poly?! Really, San Diego State? They should have to forfeit the season for that loss.
The Hudy Delights Picks of the Week
ReplyDeleteOSU over Minnesota
Georgia over Bama - UGA at home should defeat Bama
Penn State of Illinois - PSU is tough this year and especially at home
ND over Purdue - SInce we will be at that game we need to pick the Irish
Cal over Colorado State - THis was a toss up but Cal at home should prevail.
Idaho over San Diego State - Isn't San Diego State the worst D1 school??
spamsandwichsan says... it's about time joe sobered up from oktoberfest and put up the picks!
ReplyDelete1. OSU over Minnesota - even with OSU looking a bit week, I hope I can count on Minnesota being worse. it's time to see how bad the big ten can beat up on eachother and take crap from the espn goons while a certain team out west will get mad credit for beating a bunch of high school teams! lets see if ol'Jim can pick a QB and stick to a master plan!
2. Georgia over Alabama - i always like an upset, but i gotta pick the home team at night. georgia has a mad crowd (not as bad as wisconsin or penn state), but after a long day of baking in the hot georgia sun added to the leftover humility of sherman's famous march to the sea, they will be ready to win!
3. Penn State over Illinois - i would rather drink an O'Finnegan's lost brew than go into happy valley at 8pm! (for those who are unfamiliar with the lost brew, simply try to dry-hop a beer after going to the round bar for some side cars and bride/transvestite fighting and then returning home at 3am to tackle the brew while a hairy labrador retriever is shedding everywhere)
4. Purdue over Notre Dame - yuck, this may be worse than the ND vs. Michigan game... either way, their beating last week by State was enough to show that the big ten may still have some depth.
5. California over Colorado State - [see high school football team comment above] plus putting 60+ points on the board is somewhat impressive, even if the other team stinks.
6. Idaho vs. San Diego State over Idaho - SD State used to give OSU a run for their money... plus exactly 9 months after the last time I was in San Diego, (for a work paid vacati... i mean training trip) my daughter maddie was born!
