Games for this week:
1. OSU vs. Wisconsin
2. Auburn vs. Vanderbilt
And the oddball games this week are:
3. Louisiana-Lafayette vs. Louisiana-Monroe
4. Temple vs. Miami (Not Florida)
5. Southern Methodist vs. UCF
6. Florida International vs. North Texas
1. OSU vs. Wisconsin
ReplyDeleteW-OSU: OSU will win if their O-line shows up. Prior gives OSU a lot of options at QB because the O-line is terrible, but he better learn to fire the ball with more velocity or else a good defensive secondary will have a hey-day picking off his passes. Prior as an athelete = great. Prior as a passer = below average.
2. Auburn vs. Vanderbilt
W-Auburn: Brains doesn't put a helmet in someone's chest. Auburn wins big.
3. Louisiana-Lafayette vs. Louisiana-Monroe
W-L.M.: Kudos to Joe for the plethora of odd-ball games.
4. Temple vs. Miami (Not Florida)
W-Miami: Go Redhawks...Redjays...Redbirds...Redrum. Whatever their mascot is.
5. Southern Methodist vs. UCF
W-UCF:
6. Florida International vs. North Texas
W-North Texas:
Buckeye Cock says:
ReplyDelete1. OSU - Go Buckeyes. Beanie is back, Pryor doesn't look like he's actually working hard, the Badgers can't hold on to a 19 point lead.
2. Auburn - This will be a blow out folks. Who has Vandy beat? South Carolina, they're great. Ole Miss? They did beat Florida but no dice. Auburn 3-2
3. Lafayette - this will be closer than we think but they can pull it off.
4. Miami - Give the edge to the home team. Go Ohio!
5. UCF - Apparently they can't do anything on the road but they can win at home.
6. FL International - These are pretty random this week Joe.
OLD BAG OF MAN SAYS:
ReplyDelete1) OSU. I KNOW OUR DEFENSE CAN'T MAKE MID-GAME ADJUSTMENTS BUT MAYBE THEY CAN "MAKE WEEK BEFORE THE GAME ADJUSTMENTS" AFTER WATCHING THE MICHIGAN TAPE.
2) AUBURN. MAYBE IT'S BECAUSE I STILL DON'T BELIEVE VANDERBILT HAS A FOOTBALL TEAM.
3) MONROE. LAFAYETTE SOUNDS TOO FRENCH TO ME.
4) TEMPLE. JOHN CHENEY AND HIS OWL EYES WILL PREY ON THE ABERCROMBIE UNIVERSITY.
5) UCF. SOUTHERN METHODIST HASN'T BEEN GOOD SINCE THE 60'S.
6) FLORIDA INTL. WASN'T NORTH TEXAS THE TEAM IN THE MOVIE "NECESSARY ROUGHNESS"?
After labor intensive research, Batman predicts:
ReplyDeleteOSU, Auburn, LL, MUohio, UCF and FI.
Now the Auburn Vandy game was a very tough one to pick. In fact, I almost regret the decision already. I should go up and change it but I can't do it. This is my thought process on this game for the last 2 hours.
Ohio State was a tough pick too. They could easily lose. They do not have confidence. Wisconsin is furious, wisconsin is at home, wisconsin is playing at night. Picking against OSU is always hard (except in obvious cases such as vs LSU or vs USC this year). It will be exciting.
The oddball games were wisely selected by moderator Neff. Especially hard is Louisiana.
Thought of the day: How many people forget the #1 rule of the stock market...buy low and sell high?
Does anyone else enjoy watching the classic Big Ten games on the Big Ten Network. Favorite quote: "This young man's got a brilliant future" Announcer after a PSU bowl win in 1983.
1. Ohio State over Wisconsin - Camp Randall is a tough place to play, especially at night, but when we can run the ball--which we can with Beanie back--we win there.
ReplyDelete2. Vanderbilt over Auburn - The Commies have never lost a home game when the Gameday crew was there.
3. Monroe over Lafayette - It's too bad these teams always suck, because Ragin' Cajuns and Warhawks are among the best names in college sports.
4. Miami over Temple - Thanks for specifying, Joe. If this was the U, I'd be taking the Owls.
5. Central Florida over Southern Methodist - Knights ride horses... all night long!
6. North Texas over Florida International - Not that this is one of those games, but hasn't FIU taken enough buyout games that they should be able to buy enough local talent to at least be competitive by now. For cryin' out loud!

Nostrapigskinus Predicts:
ReplyDeleteOSU def. Wisconsin: No cheer that Ohio State has performed, is performing, or ever will perform will compare to the "Jump Around" cheer between the 3rd and 4th quarters at Camp Randall Stadium. In spite of that decided advantage, the Buckeyes should still win this one by at least a TD. Heck, the Badgers lost to friggin' Michigan last week. Yea, you heard me right, Michigan. Who does THAT nowadays, really?!
Vanderbilt def. Auburn: Do I make the same mistake twice and pick against Vanderbilt in a game vs. an SEC foe? No sir!!! Not to mention Auburn's offense couldn't score on my JV high school football team.
(And now we begin the part of the Guest Panelist season where Nostrapigskinus' picks go downhill, considering we have FOUR friggin' oddball games to pick this week. Thanks a lot Joey!!!)
Louisiana-Lafayette def. Louisiana-Monroe: There's no way I pick against the Ragin' Cajuns. BY FAR the best team nickname in all of college football. They're ragin', they're cajun, what more could you want?!
Temple def. Miami (OH): I'm probably going to regret this pick later when I finish one game back in the final Guest Panelist standings.
Southern Methodist def. UCF: Both teams suck. A lot. But at least SMU has proven they can score at least a few points.
Florida International def. North Texas: Message to Joey = once, just once, I'd like to see an oddball game of the week involving two good teams. Please, just once? Remember, change is good!
spamsandwichsan says... too much beer and chilli at the 2008 uiuc beer and chilli festival this past weekend...
ReplyDelete1. OSU over Wisconsin - that team up north exposed their weakness... playing a full game in an away stadium against a crappy team. OSU is very good at playing a full four quarters and never gives up... but we are going into somewhat of a trap, especially after the badgers upset last week, and we are not a crappy team. i hope tressel can keep the bucks heads' in the game and bring them out with a victory!
2. Vandy over Auburn - see my previous post on why I cannot pick Auburn. that sales guy owes me dinner!
3. Lafyette over Monroe - not sure why
4. Miami over Temple - the cheerleaders from Miami have to be more attractive... i mean come on, miami admissions is basically like a hooters interview, minus the chicken wings and hidden camera in the blinds!
5. SM over UCF - we all know what SM really stands for, so they should be able to 'tie' up the competition and 'whip' them on the field. sorry for the imagery...
6. Florida International over North Texas - i like the addition of the mad oddball games. it basically turns a football pick into a crapshoot... it's like removing the computer ranking from the BCS, i mean what does the BCS do that a group of pollsters can't figure out? plus, it's even more exciting to see the scores since none of these games are on TV, unless you subscribe to the Odd-Ball Network, which Time Warner is planning to add to their line up starting 2015.
Pat Head guesses:
ReplyDelete1. OSU over Wisconsin: Will be tough, but OSU can pull it off.
2. Auburn over Vanderbilt: Auburn should have lost last week. I think they know that and will prepare for Vandy. Vandy will be geared up having Gameday there, but they will face their toughest test so far this season and will prevail.
And the oddball games this week are:
3. Louisiana-Lafayette over Louisiana-Monroe: Yay it’s about time the Ragin’ Cajuns showed up on the oddball game list this season. How many teams are in Louisiana anyway?
4. Miami over Temple: Go Ohio! I got nothing else on this one.
5. SMU over UCF: SMU has over 1,300 yards passing in their 4 losses and 1 win! I couldn’t find any info on UCF’s secondary, but any secondary is going to have a tough time controlling that.
6. Florida International over North Texas: North Texas gave up 77 points to Rice. There are too many Texas teams too!
