Battle of Bourbon Country, Kentucky noses out the win.

  2. 1. Ohio State vs. Toledo
W-OSU: I would love for Tressel to run up the score just once. I think all of Buckeye nation could benefit from that right now.

    2. Georgia Tech vs. Miami (FL)
W-GT: Looking forward to the OSU vs Miami games coming up over the next two seasons.

    3. Nebraska vs. Virginia Tech
    W-VT: VT won't go 1-2.

    4. Arizona vs. Iowa
W-Arizone: Arizona is in the "others receiving votes" category. Iowa is not. I'm not sure which one is more embarassing...

    5. Louisville vs. Kentucky
    W-Louisville: zzzzzzzz

    6. San Diego State vs. Idaho
W-SDS: Idaho is one of those states we wouldn't miss if the US needed to consolidate and reduce the number of states. Arkansas, Vermont, and the Dakotas would be the others.

    OSU over Toledo.
    Miami over GA Tech
    Va Tech over nebraska

    Kentucky over Louisville
    San Diego St over Idaho

  4. Old Baggage of Man needs better picks:

    1) This will be the first win for an Ohio team in the Browns stadium this year. And it will be from OSU.

    2) Still hate Florida teams. Ga Tech wins.

    3) Not sure what a Cornhusker is. Va Tech wins.

    4) Come on, Big 10 needs some help. Iowa wins.

    5) This might be a better b-ball game. UK wins.

    6) Is Marshall Faulk still at SDSU? No matter, they'll win.

  5. Batman:

    1. OSU
    2. Miami - I am beginning to like this squad.
    3. Virginia Tech
    4. Iowa - throw it down Big 10
    5. Kentucky
    6. Idaho

Michigan is for real. I find Notre Dame pitiful. If you ever want to read a Tressel-basher, read Jon Spencer from my hometown newspaper: mansfieldnewsjournal.com.
I support Tressel and his style. He is like George Bush: never wavers even if he is wrong.

  7. Andy Katzenmoyer's Professor9/16/2009 11:48 PM

    The Professor dictates:

So The Professor is officially no longer in last place in the Guest Panel standings. That was a scary and depressing week, that's for sure.

And RIP Myles Brand, we will miss you. If nothing else, you certainly increased the bottom line of the NCAA, which is the #1 job of the head of any organization. Kudos to ya.

Ohio State def. Toledo: Did anyone else see the Toledo-Colorado game a few weeks ago on ESPN?! Is Toledo that good, or is Colorado that bad?!?1 Kordell Stewart, Rashaan Salaam, and Michael Westbrook all just started a huge bonfire with all of their Buffaloes gear. On the subject of this game, it'll be closer than most people expect. I really don't see the Buckeyes blowing any team out this season (perhaps other than Indiana).

Georgia Tech def. Miami (FL): Not sold on the rebirth of the U quite yet. I'm still thinking they're another year or two away from being at the level of my Hokies in the ACC.

Virginia Tech def. Nebraska: And here are my Hokies!!! After the tough loss vs. Alabama, they should beat the black out of the Black Shirts.

Iowa def. Arizona: What an odd matchup, really. Even though Arizona will lose the game, their players still get to go home to Arizona. The Iowa players, although victorious, will stay home in Iowa. Now, you tell me who REALLY wins.

Kentucky def. Louisville: Wasn't Louisville supposed to be the team of the moment like 2-3 years ago? What the h*ll happened?

San Diego State def. Idaho: Come on Idaho, you lost to Washington? Really?!?! Who does that?!?! But, to their credit, they do have one of the cooler team nicknames in D-1 football, even if the logo is poorly lame.

  8. Spamsandwichsan says...

No problem with Tressel here! He's running a tight ship, good disipline, and winning more games. Every season will not be like 2002. We will not win every game. I feel the extra long TV time outs were the main cause of the bucks loosing steam at the end. After every 3 and out or the missed USC field goal, there was a 5-8 minute break and the crowd just can't keep cheering the entire time! Oh well, I guess that lucrative TV contract was worth it!

    1. Ohio State over Toledo - totally redeem ourselves!
    2. Miami (FL) over Georgia Tech - GT win last week was luck
    3. Virginia Tech over Nebraska
    4. Iowa over Arizona - go BIG10!
    5. Kentucky over Louisville
    6. San Diego State over Idaho - the vandals? Sounds like a shitty punk band... Oh wait, it is!

  9. Philly Cheese

    Ohio State
    Georgia Tech
    Virginia Tech
    Iowa
    Kentucky
    San Diego State

  10. Buckeye Cock is in a rush. Here are his pics:

    1. Ohio State - Don't be surprised if Toledo keeps it close, after all, they did beat Michigan last year.

    2. Miami - I like the U with the upset this week.

    3. Va Tech - I'm going to go with Ari Chance on this one even though I could see this as the Huskers break out game.

    4. Iowa - Now that they've gotten the cobwebs out . . .

    5. Kentucky - Even though it's a down year, I like Kentucky in this one.

    6. Idaho - Home opener

  11. Mel Kiper's Hair9/17/2009 9:46 AM

The Hair is still recovering from Saturday’s fiasco and even more from the concussion and broken face sustained Sunday (biking hung-over does not yield sexy results). Look for better pick-em next week!

    OSU vs. Toledo

Toledo is a MAC school…and we are not a team from Michigan so there should be no problem.

    Georgia Tech vs. Miami (FL)

Clemson was a decent opponent for the Yellow Jackets and they stood their ground admirably. If this game was played in Atlanta it would be a no-brainer, but I’ll have to hand this one to the Home team. Miami in an ACC squeaker.

    Virginia Tech vs. Nebraska

The Hokies will be the first real challenge for the Corn-‘holers’ as they’ve routed the opposition in their first two games 87-12. The scoring trend will be slowed to be certain and by how much will depend greatly on how well the V Tech secondary holds up against the air attack of Nebraska. Sorry Professor but my head tells me Nebraska takes this one.

    Iowa vs. Arizona

Iowa shook the cob-webs out last week against their in-state rivals and will continue the trend this weekend. Rob Gronkowski the talented TE for Arizona will be out again which (along with the pink lockers) will give the Hawkeyes the edge.

    Kentucky vs. Louisville

What we do know… this is not the same Louisville team of the past. What we don’t know….pretty much everything else. Each of these teams come into this match-up with wins against mediocre programs (sure the Miami shutout was more impressive by Kentucky). I’d rather see them meet on the hard-court but since I can’t right now…I’ll go with Kentucky at home.

    San Diego State vs. Idaho

Idaho in their home opener will walk away with a bitter taste in their mouth as San Diego State comes to town and whups up on them. Isn’t it enough they get to live in the most ideally temperate climate in the nation and have Tijuana only a few steps away!

  12. Pat Head's Picks:

I'm very depressed about my Vols. Hopefully Florida won't crush us too much this week!

    1. Ohio State over Toledo - Last week's game reminded me of the Texas bowl game. It's a shame b/c OSU's defense looked great until the end.
    2. Miami (FL) over GT - home field advantage.
    3. Virginia Tech over Nebraska - I'm not confident in this pick.
    4. Arizona over Iowa
    5. Kentucky over Louisville
    6. San Diego State over Idaho
