Temple with the win
OSU violates Indiana
ReplyDeleteShould I really dignify this with serious analytical commentary…nope. There will be more Buckeye fans in Bloomington this weekend than actual Indianan’s. So what if they almost won at the Big House…I ALMOST had a hole-in-one once. I ALMOST bowled a 300 game. I ALMOST won the lottery. I think you get the point.
LSU picks apart Georgia
LSU can’t lose this game. It would completely sully the hype for next week’s titanic clash with Florida and the concussed Tebow. (on a side note I’d rather break my leg or lose a middle toe than have another concussion…nothing glorious about that and no visible scar to wow the chicks with either).
USC bashes California
Both have had major flops so the panged looks of two teams desperate for some national pride will show up Saturday in what will essentially be the PAC-10 championship game. Despite having a healthy QB as inspiration for the Trojans they’ll be taking the field with the additional edge propelled by their fallen comrade, Stafon Johnson, who experienced what I consider to be the worst weight lifting accident sufferable.
Oklahoma defiles Miami
Next year can be Miami’s year to make a run…right after we beat them convincingly. Until then it will be a downward spiraling season the highlight of which came in week 2 when they de-panted the ‘Noles. It may not be as satisfying to watch Randy Shannon pop blood-vessels in his head as his skeleton predecessor Larry Coker did, but hey…we’re 1-0 against them in Big Games this decade…got to like them odds.
Michigan corn-holes Michigan State
Now that Purdue has joined the list of Teams-I-Can’t-Stand-Because-They-Lost-to-Notre-Dame, I’ll carry that aggression over to this week’s pick when considering what will happen. I pity both sides mostly due to their affiliation with a now defunct state and the complete lack of defense that will be on display.
Temple strikes down Eastern Michigan
In the battle of the bottom 10 (literally out of all Div 1-A schools both have been on the ESPN bottom 10 list ALL season) can there really be a winner??? In lieu of flipping-a-coin I spent 5 seconds worth of research and have determined through somewhat convoluted and backwards logic that Temple managed to play currently undefeated Villanova down to the wire in their opening game of the season…reason enough me-thinks!
This is an unprecedented occasion in the history of Joe's blog. Over a 4 week period I have gone from the #1 ranking after week 1, to last place after week 4. Impressive to say the least.
ReplyDelete1. Ohio State vs. Indiana
W-OSU: Can we make it 3 shutouts in a row? That might raise the eyebrows of pollsters around the country.
2. LSU vs. Georgia
W-Georgia: LSU has a lot of unanswered questions that will get exposed against Georgia.
3. USC vs. California
W-Cal: I'd love to see a 2 loss USC team.
4. Oklahoma vs. Miami (Fl.)
W-Oklahoma:
5. Michigan vs. Michigan State
W-Michigan: I want them to go undefeated until the last game of the season!
6. Temple vs. E. Michigan
W-Temple: Maybe I should stop randomly guessing these games. That's probably why I'm in last place...

I knew last week would be a disaster and going 3-3 is disgraceful. A little more confident with this week's picks. I am jumping on the Michigan bandwagon. Especially if U of M jumps on MSU early, the Spartans might stop playing for the season. What a disappointment their season will continue to be with a loss here.
Also, as Purdue's coach re-emphasized my theory. A coach can never win a game only lose it. What a poor use of a time out last week vs Notre Dame. Players win the games.
I have enjoyed the competition so far this season and continue to wish everyone the best on their picks.
Old Bag of Man is moving up the charts.
ReplyDelete1) Not sure if Indianas offense is decent or Michigans defense is bad. Either way the Bucks win this one even without Kurt Coleman.
2) Overrated SEC teams. LSU wins.
3) This game was so much better on paper last week. USC wins.
4) Miami, thanks for playing a tough schedule. Your reward, another loss. Oklahoma wins.
5) Michigan wins but they will lose soon. Hopefully the Michigan quarterback can lead his team to another last second win with a "bad" arm in order to get more acknowledgments from the announcers. Faker.
6) John Chaney and his owl eyes will lead Temple to victory.
Prof. BadAss Predicts:
ReplyDeleteOhio State def. Indiana: Come on now. Has Indiana EVER been good at football?!?! They should just cut their losses and cut the program, and divert the money into the men's basketball program.
LSU def. Georgia: Strangely, I can't think of a darn thing to write about this game. Sorry folks, I can't write witty, sarcastic, and insightful commentary for every game.
USC def. California: Wow, this game has lost some luster in recent weeks, eh?
Oklahoma def. Miami (Fl.): The Professor's A+ game of the week. Something tells me that Oklahoma climbs back into the national title picture in the coming weeks (especially after Bradford returns from his injury).
Michigan def. Michigan State: SPARTANS!!! PREPARE FOR GLORY!!! And by glory, I mean beating the spread, not actually winning the game. I've been wanting to use that line all season.
Temple def. EMU: Joey goes back to choosing games involving his favorite schools: the Michigan directional schools.
Spamsandwichsan says...
ReplyDelete1. Ohio State over Indiana - we will not struggle like that other Team up North!
2. LSU over Georgia - my new rule is to pick one upset per week, and I have to go with Cal. I will probably regret this pick.
3. California over USC - USC had a wake up call and doesn't want to get too far out of the title race, but USC injury and Cal's momentum should let them pull the upset!
4. Miami (Fl.) over Oklahoma - forget what I said about picking one upset, if you can call this an upset!
5. Michigan over Michigan State - I must swallow my pride and make some unethical picks if I aspire to move up and claim my prize this season!
6. Temple over E. Michigan - I was offered a full scholarship at E. Michigan for both swimming and my mad trombone skills... If their football recruiting follows this same pattern, I worry about their sports (and supporting marching band) programs in general!
1. Ohio State over Indiana

3. USC over Cal

5. Michigan State over Michigan
6. Eastern Michigan over Temple

Pat Head's Picks:
ReplyDelete1. Ohio State over Indiana: A night game, fun!
2. Georgia over LSU: I don't think either team has looked that great this season. This could be UGAly.
3. USC over California: After losing to Washington, Pete Carroll made sure his QB was "ready" for the Washington State game...it seems he'll actually be ready for Cal.
4. Oklahoma over Miami (Fl.): I was hoping OU would announce Sam Bradford's status before I had to pick this game...the ACC sucks though, so perhaps it won't make a difference.
5. Michigan State over Michigan: State has to win a game sometime, right?
6. Temple over E. Michigan: I'm going w/ the gamblers on this pick.
Buckeye Cock would like to congratulate Joe on getting engaged! Hopefully there will be little Joe Neff Buckeye Cocks running around in the near future.
ReplyDeleteShout out to my boy, Harry Chance, who provided me with the quote of the week. "How the hell are you number one in the standings, let alone a 2 game lead." Here it is:
1. Ohio State - I know, Indiana almost beat Michigan. This one will not be close, Buckeyes win big and give the Hoosiers the Cock Drop.
2. Georgia - LSU proved to me that they should have lost on the road at Mississippi State. They will lose between the hedges.
3. Cal - Did they really only score 3 points against Oregon? It doesn't matter which QB they use, USC goes down on the road.
4. Oklahoma - Now that they have announced that Sam Bradford is not playing, the Sooners are going to WIN.
5. Michigan - A reeling Michigan State team means another win for the undefeated Wolverines.
6. Temple - E. Michigan lost at home to Army--enough said.
