Games for this week:

12 comments:

  1. 1. Wisconsin vs. Ohio State
W-OSU: Tressel better open up the play book, Pryor better make good decisions, and the D-line better continue to put pressure on the quarterback. Prediction - OSU 28 Wisc 17

    2. Nebraska vs. Missouri (Thursday)
W-Missouri: Home field advantage is the reason for this win.

    3. Florida vs. LSU
W-Florida: Battle of the heavyweights. If Tebow has a big game the Heisman race is over.

    4. Michigan vs. Iowa
W-Iowa: This season of Iowa football is the most exciting thing to hit the state since mixed yellow and white sweet corn.

    5. Oregon vs. UCLA
    W-Oregon:

    6. Louisiana Tech vs. Nevada
W-Nevada: Not only have I stayed in last place after last week's games, I have helped to widen the spread between myself and the second to last place person.

  2. Buckeye Cock would like to mention how surprised he is that he is still at the top of the standings after last week's mess. Let's hope it doesn't happen again.

    1. Ohio State - This is not going to be easy. The Badgers always give us problems in Columbus. The Buckeyes pull away in the 4th quarter.

    2. Nebraska - They should have beat Harry Chance's Hokey Pokey's in Blacksburg. This one will not be close.

    3. Florida - For the record, I would just like to mention that I really dislike LSU. They seem to always manage to win even when they shouldn't. I wonder if they can pull it off again.

    4. Iowa - Michigan lost to MSU. They will barely make a bowl game.

    5. Oregon - The offense has been coming together as of late. I hear that they might bring the boxer back.

    6. Nevada - I'll give the edge to the team that didn't lose to Army. It seems to be a trend.

  3. Pat Head's Picks:

    1. Ohio State over Wisconsin: Snoozefest...just kiddin! OSU looked good against IU last weekend, hopefully they can keep up the intensity and cream the badgers!

    2. Nebraska over Missouri: I've debated this one, but Nebraska appears to have at least some defense, so I'm going w/ them.

    3. Florida over LSU: This is another tough one, Tebow has not been cleared to play, but Urban Meyer hates to lose, which means he may have him play anyeay. With Tebow, Florida clearly wins. Without Tebow, it is much closer.

    4. Iowa over Michigan: Michigan could upset Iowa's perfect season, but I just don't know if they got it in them to defeat the Hawkeyes at home.

    5. Oregon over UCLA: Similar to last year, UCLA started out the season on a high note, but they will likely lose the next several games. Plus, Tennessee beat themselves and that was UCLA's "biggest" win this season.

    6. Nevada over La Tech.

  4. Last week was not the way Batman envisioned climbing the rankings:

    1. Ohio State
    2. Missouri (Thursday)
    3. Florida
    4. Iowa
    5. Oregon
And the oddball game this week is:
    6. Nevada (Friday)

I hate picking Michigan games, they never fail to let me down. Like others on the panel, I prefer Michigan Directionals as favored by Moderator Neff.

  5. Old Baggage Here:

    1) How can a Big 10 team be undefeated and not in the top 25? Well Wisconsin is and that's why I'm going with the Bucks.

    2) "It'll be a cold day in hell before I consider Missoura a state" Grandpa Simpson. Nebraska wins.

    3) Tim Tebow can walk on Gatorade. You heard it here. Florida wins even without Tebow.

    4) I think I picked Michigan last week for the first time and look what it got me. Iowa wins.

    5) Watch out UCLA fans, LeGarret Blount could be back soon and fight you in the stands. Oregan wins.

    6) Wow. Nevada wins.

    OSU dumps Wisconsin

By sheer luck this Badger team is 5-0 thus-far. They will put points up on the board but at least 14 fewer than OSU who will be playing one of the crummiest defenses in the Big 10. I’m thinking of a number between 35 and 50…

    Nebraska batters Missouri

File this under obvious foreshadowing…this will be the only Tiger team going down this weekend! Nebraska’s offense is too potent to be stopped and their defense had all but wrapped the VTech game a few weeks ago. With the absence of Chase Daniels, Missouri will be hard pressed to make any moves in the Big 12 North with the likes of the Cornhuskers (and Kansas) moving in the ranks. Is this the Nebraska of old…?

    LSU trips Florida

All the ingredients are right for this cookie-cutter upset. The Gators have played essential nobody’s this season with the exception of a mediocre Tennessee team (at home no-less) and even then only managed to win by a relatively small margin. Tebow, if he plays will be groggy at best…and if he doesn’t…well goodnight Grandma. LSU has played the tougher schedule to date the best of which came last week AT UGA while they were most likely looking somewhat ahead to this Saturday night game of the year matchup. Besides I’ve eaten alligator in New Orleans before, but not tiger in…well you get the point!

    Iowa pounds Michigan

I could do some looking at the stats on this one but I’ve seen both teams play a few times this season and it’s painfully obvious that they’ve both caught some breaks….but….it would seem that while the Hawkeyes improve with each week under their belt, Michigan is on the verge of teetering into oblivion for a second straight season. Whodathunk we’d be hearing the terms Iowa and Excitement this late in the season?

    Oregon ducks UCLA

UCLA is OK but Oregon destroyed Cal and with the re-instatement of their star running-back looming on the horizon, this Eugene team is a real contender for the PAC 10 title. I still have a hard time thinking of the Bruins as anything other than a former basketball dynasty…

    Louisiana Tech thwarts Nevada

Can you really pick against a home team who just put up 63 points last week against a team that solidly mauled Hawaii? I suppose so considering Nevada lost to Notre Dame (yes I brought those Golden Domers up again). Besides LT has had a tougher schedule (they managed to put up 13 on Auburn) so watch this visiting team travel West and come out victorious.

  7. spamsandwichsan says...

like the 'scene' from The Crying Game, I am still trying to wash the filth from my body after siding with that team up north last week... worse yet, after picking them, they let me down!! never again will I let my desire to achieve greatness overshadow my true hatred for Michigan!!

    1. Ohio State over Wisconsin - gonna be tough

    2. Missouri over Nebraska - the over/under has gotta be like 100 points for this game?

    3. LSU over Florida - taking a bet on sans Tebow and a bye-week hangover

    4. Iowa over Michigan - see comment above

    5. Oregon over UCLA

    6. Louisiana Tech over Nevada - running the score up on UNLV, eh? wow, that's a real accomplishment!!

  8. Andy Katzenmoyer's Professor Lectures His Students on the Games this Week:

A belated congratulations to our learned, marathon-running, legal scholar Joey Neff on his engagement to the lovely, brainy, and wonderful Kati (i.e. Pat Head).

And a shout out to Buckeye Cock, for coming back to the field a bit. That's what you get for not addressing the Professor by his proper name!!! Boo yah!!!

    Now, onto the picks...

Ohio State def. Wisconsin: Badgers, we don't need no stinkin' Badgers! (pause for laughter...not hearing any...)...hearing crickets instead...By the way, is Al Toon's son the leading receiver for Wisconsin?!?!

Nebraska def. Missouri: Can the Big 12 North actually provide a team that will challenge the big boys of the South? Probably not, but this game will be fun to watch, nevertheless. For those folks who use the Professor's picks for gambling purposes (and those of you who do, you need to undergo a psychological evaluation), take the over.

Florida def. LSU: Obviously, the Professor's A+ game of the week. Come on, how can you pick against a guy that was on the cover of SI not more than a few months ago? Oh wait...

Iowa def. Michigan: I personally think that Iowa got WAY too much respect from the pollsters for their win over PSU (they barely beat Northern Iowa and Arkansas State, for Pete's Sake), but, they should be able to handle RichRod and his "overworked" team at Kinnick.

Oregon def. UCLA: I've got to give a golf clap to the Ducks; they've certainly turned their season around 180 degrees from the season-opening fiasco in Boise. 42-3 over Cal? Damnnnnnn.........Who'd have thought that the Ducks' game against USC would likely decide the Pac-10 title and Rose Bowl berth around 11:30 PM on Sept. 12?!?!

Louisiana Tech def. Nevada: Even though they'll win this game, Louisiana Tech still finishes far behind its Louisiana-Lafayette brethren for the award of best team nickname in the state. NO ONE will ever top the Ragin' Cajuns. And don't you forget it.
