Maybe there is a direct correlation between being the first one to submit picks and being last place in this competition. Nonetheless, here are my rushed and poorly contemplated selections.
Old Bag Of Man Says....
ReplyDeleteway to go Joe on the marathon.
1) It can't get worse can it? OSU rebounds with a win.
2) MAC powerhouses. One team will get their first win of the season. Didn't Letterman go to Ball St? Ball State wins.
3) Better game on the hardcourt. Maryland wins.
4) Does Syracuse still have the Duke guard? Syracuse wins.
5) Does Larry Johnson still play for UNLV? Grandma-ma? UNLV wins.
6) Florida Intl wins.
Batman:
ReplyDeleteHudy, it's lonely up near the top of the standings without you.
1. OSU
2. Ball State
3. Duke
4. Syracuse
5. UNLV
6. Arkansas State.
It is getting hard to call upsets. Who could have seen Purdue winning or Georgia Tech. I give a lot of credit to our new leader who picked against Virginia Tech.
1. Ohio State
ReplyDelete2. Ball State
3. Maryland
4. Syracuse
5. UNLV
6. Arkansas State

2. Eastern Michigan over Ball St.
3. Maryland over Duke
4. Akron over Syracuse
5. New Mexico over UNLV
6. Florida Int. over Arkansas St.
OSU over Minnesota
ReplyDeleteThey make it so hard NOT to be a fair-weather fan! I know Purdue has dropped a lot of close games, but holy-hell, they lost to a crappy MAC team. That equates to being equally if not more crappy. We need to support Pryor cause we’ve got him for another 2.5 seasons and he’s going to be the guy like it or not. Let’s hope the coaches unleash the beast we all know he can be!!!
Ball State nudges Eastern Michigan
What’s an odd-ball week of pick-em without a Michigan Directional thrown into the mix…albeit the worst among the Michigan Directional’s! This is about the point in the season that Ball State’s storybook script runs right into a brick wall….but considering they’ve managed to stink it up thus-far….I’ll go with the away team. Letterman would be proud!
Maryland chokes on Duke
CRAB-CAKES AND FOOTBALL…THAT’S WHAT MARYLAND DOES!!! Unfortunately the Blue Devils are gonna’ motorboat right past these Terrapins. It’s unfortunate since I’m pretty sure ‘Puke’ isn’t even a real school anyways – but hey…it gave us the depraved-narcissist that is Tucker Max.
Akron loses to Syracuse
Probably the only time this season the Orangemen will enjoy a positive spread of over 3 points off the hard-court. Ten point favorites in this one…I’d better get an ‘A’ for doing my homework on this one Professor!
UNLV nips New Mexico
Better offense wins this game. If anybody outside of the MWC watches this game they should realize THIS is why Utah didn’t have a prayer of going to the national title game last season. Even Indiana has a shot at thumping these guys.
Florida International is obliterated by Arkansas State
Again the spread comes in nice and handy in a game whose outcome is otherwise completely indeterminate by rational college football fans. Eleven points is good enough for me to pick the Red Wolves in what will surely be a raucous ASU Stadium night game!
Andy Katzenmoyer's Professor Declares:
ReplyDeleteYippee, an entire week of oddball games. Well, here's to the Professor going 1-5 for the week. Thanks Joey.
Ohio State def. Minnesota: The Professor's A+ game of the week, by default. Yikes, I'm kind of glad I was on vacation this past Saturday and didn't witness the atrocity that was the Purdue game. I don't think it's time to pull the plug on the great Pryor experiment yet by any means, but I think that it is need of some tinkering and modifications.
Ball St. def. Eastern Michigan: Wasn't Ball State in the top 10 like a season or two ago? How the mighty have fallen. Going with the Cardinals here because they've at least been somewhat competitive in their losses this season. However, both teams have lost to Army this season, and based solely on that fact, both teams should be relegated to D-II or NAIA.
Duke def. Maryland: My sincere apologies to all of my relatives that went to Maryland, but, these are not happy times in College Park. Nevertheless, they'll always have Santa Fe Cafe and Terrapin Station.
Syracuse def. Akron: Lookie here, the Professor's graduate school alma mater in an oddball game!!! Believe it or not, the Orange have actually been pretty competitive in their games this season with former Dukie PG Paulus at QB (as opposed to the last decade or so). The Zips are usually a pretty talented MAC team, but, The Orange grab the W at the Dome.
UNLV def. New Mexico: I have friends that live in Las Vegas and New Mexico. What does that have to do with the price of tea in China (or this game)? Not a damn thing, but, I had to write something to fill the empty space.
Arkansas St. def. FIU: Hey, the Red Wolves almost beat Iowa at Iowa. That's got to count for something, right? And they played Troy more competitively than FIU, so, go with the Red Wolves at home. BTW, what the h*ll is a Red Wolf anyways? Anyone? Bueller...Bueller...

Buckeye Cock is very upset about this whole Pat Head jumping me. She needs a Cock Drop--Joe. I would like to remind everyone that Ga Tech completed 1 pass all game against Harry Chance's Hokey Pokeys. That's worse that Ohio State's own TP. Picks:
ReplyDelete1. OSU - So, apparently my boy Lebron has been talking to Pryor as of late. That is going to be the key to the game. Shout out to Lebron and Shaq. Go Cavs!
2. Ball State - Someone will get their first win.
3. Duke
4. Syracuse
5. UNLV
6. Arkansas State
7. Penn State
Pat Head's Picks
ReplyDeleteYAY...I'm finally in first place!!!!!!!!! Too bad Joe picked this week to do his dreaded "all odd-ball games." Well, it was fun while it lasted. Here I go...
1. Ohio State over Minnesota
2. Ball St. over Eastern Michigan
3. Duke over Maryland - I remember when UT lost to Maryland in the Peach Bowl...how depressing!
4. Syracuse over Akron
5. UNLV over New Mexico
6. Arkansas St. over FIU - I want to pick Florida International, b/c I think Arkansas State's near victory over Iowa was a fluke. But, it's at home and the Red Wolves are heavily favored, so I'm going w/ the gamblers.
P.S. I can't believe Western Kentucky lost to FIU! Why are they an FBS team?
