Here are the games for the Guest Panel to consider this week. Below
are the standings as well. It was a rough week for the panel, with none of the panelists predicting more than three games correctly. None of the panelists predicted victory by Baylor or Richmond. The Northwestern-Boston College game also proved to be a difficult game for the panel.
Standings:
1. Philly Cheese (3-3) (3-3 last week)
1. Dr. Funkenstein (3-3) (3-3 last week)

Games for this week:
1. Toledo vs. OSU
1. Toledo vs. OSU
2. Alabama vs. Penn State
3. Mississippi State vs. Auburn
4. South Carolina vs. Georgia
5. Notre Dame vs. Michigan
And the oddball game this week is:
6. North Carolina St. vs. Wake Forest
3. Mississippi State vs. Auburn
4. South Carolina vs. Georgia
5. Notre Dame vs. Michigan
And the oddball game this week is:
6. North Carolina St. vs. Wake Forest
1. Ohio State over Toledo. OSU could get tripped up in this one, but they have a less inflated sense of self from their Akron win than Toledo does from drilling New Hampshire. 27-17, Bucks.
ReplyDelete2. Alabama over Penn State. It's SEC vs. Big Ten. Aka, mismatch.
3. Mississippi State over Auburn. Not Utah State here. Auburn is in for a year long hangover from their NC.
4. South Carolina over Georgia. I was originally gonna go w/ the Dawgs, till I realized that the last time I saw UGA play, they were hanging a whole seven points on Central Florida.
5. Notre Dame over Michigan. God showed his anger with both these programs via the weather last Saturday, while it was gorgeous in The Shoe! The better, and hungrier-for-a-win, team takes this one.
6. North Carolina St. over Wake Forest. My boy Grobe is in trouble...
Toledo v OSU - like a sledgehammer to a spider so shall Fickell's game-plan be to the Rockets. Certainly a better challenge than last week - there is little can be done for the guys from Tony Packo land.
ReplyDeleteAlabama v Penn State - the only game of a lamentable weekend of matchups pitting two ranked teams. Drama abounds with dual quarterback controversies but unless Jo-Pa announces he's a pant-sh**ing cyborg the interest will reside completely on the side of the Bama faithful. They're giving ten which should easily be met and then some - Tide roll
Mississippi State v Auburn - For your enjoyment a delectable morsel of SEC conference play. If MKH weren't a believer of independent chance and relied purely on historical-regression (like most Mich*gan fans) then he might check the War-Eagle box at the local TAB. But as every Confucian football fan knows (outside of the PAC-10): those who stop the run win the game - and friends let me tell you, this is something the Tiger defense cannot do. Taking the sexy pick: Mississippi State
South Carolina v Georgia - Yet another prodigious clash of Southeastern foes - this one from the distinguished Sanford 'And Sons' stadium where the recently bullied Dogs of Georgia shall drop their home-opener to the Cocks of the Carolinas. Note to Georgia - you have been placed on the Hair's Big Board of Dung for so willingly taking it in the rear and allowing yet another season of "Do They/Don't They Deserve BCS" punditry for those Boise potato heads.
Notre Dame v Michigan - As in the past the Hair joins many on the panel in wishing for the next natural disaster to occur at approximately 8:15 PM EST next Saturday eve upon the Big-House in whore-city USA. If this can't happen then perhaps a repeat of last weekend's 3 quarter lightening riddled fiasco sparing us listening to late-game nostalgia based clips compensating for the abysmal quality of play. As it's beyond the sensibilities of this panelist to pick a winner, MKH states only that the Dirty Blue will not lose.
North Carolina St v Wake Forest - Leave it to Joe to choose an even-odds ball game for the picking. And so with surgical precision and astounding foresight (aided in part by the tossing of a 50 cent piece) it's been determined that Wake Forest will emerge victorious.
Old Bag of Man proclaims:
ReplyDelete1) OSU. Another MAC school, same result.
2) Alabama. I know PSU's QB McLovin has "moxy" according to Musbooger, but that doesn't matter against Alabama.
3) MSU. Auburn should have lost last week. Auburn needs to go back to paying their players to play for them.
4) South Carolina. Neither team looked good last week but Georgia looked extra bad.
5) Michigan. Thanks Joe for making us pick one of two teams that we all hate. Hopefully it doesn't rain again, can't look at Brady Hoke aka Matt Foley's man boobs on tv again.
6) NC St.
Buckeye Cock is very disappointed with last week's results. On to the next.
ReplyDelete1. OSU - I'll be there.
2. Alabama - Interesting matchup. I think Penn ST will get manhandled.
3. Mississippi ST - Auburn should not have won that game last week.
4. South Carolina
5. Michigan - Go Blue! What
6. NC State - Eh
Philly Cheese

Paul the Octopus licks his wounds from a rough Week #1 of picks and throws his lot into Week #2:
ReplyDeleteOSU def. Toledo: C'mon Ohio State, when you going to start scheduling the REAL State of Ohio football powerhouses in your non-conference schedule: Wittenburg, Capital University, Wright State, Ohio Wesleyan, etc. You know they could use a sweet $500K also to get beaten up on for 60 minutes!
Alabama def. Penn State: I miss the Penn State Creamery ice cream. And yes, octopi can, and do, eat ice cream. In mass quantities. And we love it.
Mississippi State def. Auburn: Important note: Cam Newton, nor his father, will be in attendance at this game. For the gambling degenerates that only read the Guest Panel picks for betting purposes (and I know you're out there), please mark this pick down as Paul the Octopus’ Week #2 8 Tentacle Death-Hold Pick of the Week.
South Carolina def. Georgia: The Ol' Ball Coach beats the Soon to be Unemployed Ball Coach. And yes, for those Guest Panel readers with a keen eye, I am going with a lot of road winners this week.
Michigan def. Notre Dame: Toughest game of the week to pick, by far. First night game in the history of The Big House on national TV; something tells me Big Boy Hoke gets Shoelace & Co. amped up for this one, and the (who thought I'd ever say this last season) OPPORTUNISTIC UM defense comes up with a few turnovers to get the W.
Wake Forest def. NC State: Okay, something is very much wrong here. Pat Head, can you check and see if the Moderator is feeling alright? He must be ill, methinks; two weeks of the Guest Panel, and ZERO games involving the Michigan directional teams?!?! The horror!!!
Batman
ReplyDeletePoor start to the picks season! Felt like an idiot reading loss after loss. The only saving grace is that no one took a commanding lead with a big start. Is it just me or is Moderator Neff choosing harder games? Who will rise to the challenge without gimme Michigan directionals?
So it's time to announce some quality picks, hoping for a lot of road victories early in the season this week:

SC

ReplyDelete1. OSU over Toledo - why does every buckeye fan expect this season to be a complete loss!! ‘toledo will be a difficult match for osu this weekend’... yeah right!! how about Nebraska or Wisconsin!! national champions, probably not, but with big ten championship game this year, it’s a completely new conference!!
