MKH returns from the Great Barrier Reef to find himself the benefactor of default selections which has placed him three games in the lead! By letting the rankings do the work for him this season he's a solid 90%....has a new laissez faire system of Guest Panel Pick-em been discovered? Hypothesis to be tested this week as he steps back into the ring...

Ohio State v. Purdue - Win OSU. MKH is hedging a bit here in an attempt to protect his lead...no surprise at all if we drop another one in East Lafayette...high volatility in the OSU Football market this year

Nebraska v. Penn St. - Win Penn St. Sure it's waaaay to soon for this but MKH is not one for tact so....Q: Why does the PSU coaching staff love that the majority of the Cornhusker starters are comprised of twenty five year-olds? A: There's twenty of them. Ok...enough of that nonsense - picking the Lions to play some winning ball at home...hopefully on a very grassy field...

Oregon v. Stanford - Win Stanford. If Paul the Octopus, Carl, etc. are allowed a hetero man-crush every now and again certainly MKH might be daring enough to have his own. And who else to receive this honor but the man every bottom feeder quarter-back-less NFL team is throwing games for but the Stanford Stud himself...Andrew Luck. As for this weekend's match...take the over...even if it's 80.

Texas v. Missouri - Win Texas. Nothing to say really except this might be one of the last times these two teams play as Big 12 opponents.

TCU v. Boise State - Win Boise. C'mon - MKH may hate the way Boise get's stroked off all season, but they win all the time - and they've yet to really slip up on a national stage. This should be one of their tougher games this season - which isn't saying much.

Buffalo v. Eastern Michigan - Win EMU. With wins over powerhouses such as Howard and Alabama State one has to go with the Eagles at home in this one.

  2. Ohio State over Purdue. Echoes of "Boiler Up" are still in my temporal lobe from two years ago. Here's hoping OSU got their scare last weekend. 24-17 (24-15 if that Cameron Wigg still kicks for Purdue).

Nebraska over Penn St. Oh the sarcastic, snide, sociological comments involving Penn State football are just waaaaay too easy for me to use any this week...

Stanford over Oregon. If it didn't work for Trent Richardson last week, maybe Andrew lucks into his Heisman trophy on The Farm this weekend.

Texas over Missouri. Texas is 6-0 vs. unranked teams (of which Mizzou is one) and 0-2 vs. ranked ones. Tigers should have scheduled this one at night instead of Noon.

Boise St. over TCU. I'd pick TCU if the game was in Ft. Worth, but the Smurf Turf nabs the Horned Frogs.

Eastern Michigan over Buffalo. OU is the Buffs only D-1 win, and that by a point. Bobcats are going to kick themselves in about a month when they realize that game cost them a shot in the MAC title game. And on that note, neither of these two teams are going to be playing in that game, either!

  3. Old Bag of Man slipped up last week...just like Nebraska.

    1) OSU. Get used to it Danny Hope.

    2) Nebraska. Insert PSU assistant coach and boys joke here.

    3) Oregon. Not sold on Stanford being a top team.

    4) Texas. Have fun being slightly better than Vanderbilt next year Mizzou.

    5) Boise St. This was a better game last year.

    6) E. Michigan. Is this the only MAC game on Saturday?

  6. 1. OSU - I'm starting to become a braxton miller fan. Let's see if he continues his superior play this week.
    2. Nebraska - the drama of Penn state's week will be too much for them.

  7. Buckeye Cock:

Oh Joe Pa! You let a 10 year old boy get raped and you didn't do anything about it? Really?? Anyways, we barely made it out with a win last week. We always struggle on the road. Should be interesting.

    1. Ohio State - I think we'll pull it off but I'm VERY nervous.

    2. Nebraska - Yes, last home game, but I hear that seniors might not even dress because Joe Pa's not there.

    3. Stanford - There's a Pac-12 this season? Hmm.

    4. Texas - Why didn't they offer Boise to join the Big 12?

    5. Boise ST - Speaking of . . .

    6. Buffalo

  8. Pat Head's Picks:
I'm not sure how I came out of last week 4-2. There were some very close games. Hopefully this week will be just as exciting.

    1. Ohio State over Purdue: OSU did not look great against IU. So hopefully last week was a wake up call for the coaches and the team, you still got to win the rest of your games to get to the title game.
    2. Nebraska over Penn St.: This game could go either way, but I think Penn State players will be too distracted to come out with a win. The whole thing is so tragic. No one wanted to see Joe Pa go out like this. Not sure 18-21 year old kids will have the ability to block everything out.
    3. Stanford over Oregon: I want to see a Heisman candidate quaterback up against a big time defense (LSU?) in the national title game. I'm rooting for Stanford.
    4. Texas over Missouri: Mizzou's win over A&M was probably a fluke. Texas wins.
    5. Boise St. over TCU: I hope I'm wrong on this pick.
    6. Eastern Michigan over Buffalo: Ah the Bulls again. I'm going with the apparent leader of the Michigan directionals.

  12. Paul the Octopus11/10/2011 10:05 PM

Paul the Octopus just can’t catch a break. If not for Baylor, Missouri, and Texas A&M this season (and Ohio State, to a lesser extent), Paul would probably be in first place in the standings. I think I need to start just going with the default picks, and hope for the best (and also come to the realization that no matter how much I hate Les Miles, that grass eatin’ hillbilly sonuvab***h is going to win every single game he coaches from now until the end of eternity). On that note, here goes nothing for Week #11…

Ohio State def. Purdue: All Ohio State fans know that West Lafayette has, at times, been a house of horrors for the Buckeyes (please see 2009 season). I’m not buying the Boilermakers this season, and, I think (very cautiously so), that Fickell & Co. have found their formula for success. It may not be pretty, but, it’s successful. Who would have thought after the Nebraska game that if we win out and get a little bit of help from other teams, that we’d be playing in the Big Ten Championship Game?!?!

Nebraska def. Penn State: I don’t even know where to begin with this game and situation, a sentiment shared by my fellow Guest Panelists, I am sure. Despite this game being played at Happy Valley and emotions running off the charts high, I think it’ll be very difficult for the Penn State players to be focused and separate themselves and the football game from what has occurred on their campus the past week. Not to mention Nebraska is a better team overall.

Oregon def. Stanford: By far, the most difficult game of the week to pick. A good friend of Paul’s, Gabe the Grouper, will be in attendance at this game, cheering on his beloved Mallards. I’m going with the Mighty Ducks here for a few reasons – the Fightin’ Lucks will be missing a few key players (Owusu and Ertz) so he’ll have fewer weapons at his disposal. Additionally, it should be noted that Stanford has had some trouble with its secondary tackling in games this year. If James and the other speedsters on the Ducks can get past the LBs, watch out for a lot of big gains in the running game. Not to mention Stanford probably should have lost to USC a few weeks ago (and thankfully, they didn’t because I picked Stanford). Lastly, even though the game was at Autzen (and Oregon was arguably a better team last season vs. this season), Oregon whupped up on Stanford 52-31 in the 2010 edition of this game.

Texas def. Missouri: Based solely on the fact that I am picking Texas, Missouri will win this game, no doubt about it.

Boise St. def. TCU: Hooray, Paul the Octopus’ heterosexual man crush of the 2011 college football season makes his grand return to the Guest Panel this week! Paul’s heart is all aflutter. In honor of Moore’s return, Paul has decided to make this game his Paul the Octopus 8 Tentacle Death-Hold Pick of the Week #10 (8-2 record in such games so far; if only my overall record was equivalent).

Eastern Michigan def. Buffalo: Double hooray for another game involving a Michigan directional team! The Moderator must have been in a good mood the day he picked these games for the Guest Panel.
