  2. 1. OSU - The Braxton Miller train is just getting warmed up. The OSU offense will be unstoppable under Coach Meyer once that train gets rolling.

    2. Alabama - I commend U of M for scheduling a tough game on opening weekend, but that's as far as my credit goes. They'll lose. Big.

    3. Boise St - I'm actually very intrigued by this game.

    4. Syracuse - NW gots nothin'.

    5. Illinois - Most improved team over the past 5 years goes to Illinois.

    6. UTSA - From henceforth UTSA will be referred to phonetically as "uht sah".

  3. Old Bag of Man has been sighted at your local Wal-mart and is ready to pick something.

    1) OSU. No hurricanes this year. Good.

    2) Alabama. Why is this game in Dallas?

    3) Michigan St. Too early for Sparty to be Sparty.

    4) Northwestern. You can't lose to the 'Cuse.

    5) Illinois. You can't lose to a MAC school.

    6) South Alabama. Smaller Tide.

  4. Ohio St., in a typical Tressel-vs.-MAC-school score, 34-14. Receivers drop four balls and run 17 different incorrect pass routes, but D keeps Dysert in check.

Alabama. Michigan can now officially stop reading it's press clippings about how good they are.

Michigan State. I will take the home team with the new QB over the visitors with fifteen new starters

Syracuse. Could go either way, but picking the 'Cuse in the Dome, with a veteran D.

Illinois. Riding the momentum of their six-game-losing-streak-breaking win over vaunted UCLA in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl, and Tim Beckman's intricate ex-MAC background knowledge of the Broncos, the Illini win this

South Alabama. USA adds to its medal cou t with a narrow win vs. Larry Coker's ( remember him, Buckeye fans?!?) group

  8. Black Widow's Picks:

    1. Ohio St. over Miami: Wait, which Miami? I'm confused.
    2. Alabama over Michigan: We don't give a damn about the whole state of Alabam', we're from Tennessee...oh wait that's not the right song.
    3. Michigan State over Boise: Boise is always one of those teams that wins games it shouldn't; however, playing without Kellen Moore in East Lansing should end Boise's era of winning.
    4. Northwestern over Syracuse: This could be like the blind leading the blind.
    5. Illinois over Western Michigan: New coach Tim Beckman will be ready to impress the Illini faithful in a big win over Western Michigan.
    6. South Alabama over UTSA: Go USA!

Week ONE ~ College Football ~ AMAZING

    1. Miami vs. Ohio St.
OSU will rock and roll, Urban makes a statement!
    2. Michigan vs. Alabama
Michigan SUCKS, ROLL TIDE! Bama' will walk away the winner!
    3. Boise St. vs. Michigan State (Friday)
Boise State is too much for Sparty, to bad too!
    4. Northwestern vs. Syracuse
    Northwestern will shock the Orangemen
    5. Western Michigan vs. Illinois
Illinois squeaks a win out here, Western Michigan is better than they appear.

And the oddball game this week is:
    6. UTSA vs. South Alabama
Who?? UTSA will win, 'cause I have no idea who they are!

  10. Batman

Fresh off receiving two Ohio State t-shirts from Moderator Neff from last season's first place finishes in the Regular Season and Bowl Season picks contests, here's wishing the panel the best of luck!

And the winning 6 games are as follows:

    1. Ohio St.
    2. Alabama
    3. Michigan State (Friday)
    4. Northwestern
    5. Illinois
    6. South Alabama

I found 3 tough picks in this week's games.

First is MSU. I fear this pick if Boise keeps it close.

NW might have a strong season. It starts by going to Syracuse and taking care of business.

The oddball is a difficult one. I am going with the home team.

    1. Ohio St. over Miami - lets hope by a large margin!

    2. Alabama over Michigan - prediction: brady hoke beats out charlie weis in both losing games and gaining weight records this season

    3. Michigan State over Boise St.

    4. Northwestern over Syracuse

    5. Illinois over Western Michigan

    6. UTSA over South Alabama

  12. Funtik the Hog8/30/2012 9:06 PM

    -Funtik the Hog

Ah…leaves turning color, brats sizzling on the grill, beer flowing freely, fans yelling, screaming, and acting like idiots across the country…it must be college football season, and Funtik the Hog couldn’t be more excited. Savor these next few months ladies and gentlemen; it doesn’t get much better than the crisp autumn air and college football season. And good ol’ Funtik is back on the Buckeye Pregame Guest Panel (following in the tentacle-steps of his idol, Paul the Octopus), and is finally going to bring the title of Guest Panel Champion back where it belongs – Ukraine!!!

Now, onto the Week #1 picks and insightful, hard hitting, take to the bank analysis. And yes, for those dedicated readers of the Guest Panel, Funtik the Hog’s College Football Hog (Man) Crush of the 2012 college football season will be coming in the weeks to come, and there will of course be the Funtik the Hog’s “clairvoyant snout bucket rummage” Pick of the Week each and every week.

Ohio State def. Miami: The first game since the 2000 season (under the direction of the illustrious John Cooper and the equally dunce capped Steve Bellisari) not coached by the Sweater Vest or one of his disciples. Not that I’ll be there in person to witness this game, but I bet it’ll be an optimistic, yet odd vibe and atmosphere within the Horseshoe. It’ll also be very interesting to see how “Pope” Urban utilizes Braxton “No, I’m Not British” Miller within his patented spread scheme. The potential is there, but it is still a work in progress. Overall, Ohio State wins on Saturday, but this hog thinks it’ll be a close game for at least a half, if not 2 ½-3 quarters.

Alabama def. Michigan: Funtik knows that Michigan is a popular upset pick in what is by far the biggest game of the entire opening weekend. Don’t believe it, Guest Panel readers. Michigan hooked and crooked its way to eleven wins last season, and made Braxton Miller look like Cam Newton in the big game last year. Going up against the defending national champion in primetime in the House that Jerry Built, look for the Wolverines to be outgunned and outclassed. Take the Tide, and the points, in Funtik the Hog’s “Clairvoyant Snout Bucket Rummage” Pick of the Week for Week #1.

Michigan State def. Boise State: As much as it pains me to say it (considering Kellen Moore was my 2011 College Football Man Crush of the Year), it might be a “growing pains” season for Boise State this year. I really like what Dantonio and MSU have done the past few seasons, putting themselves in the upper echelon of the Big Ten teams behind its first round NFL draft worthy defense; not to mention the conference is pretty wide open for the taking this season. Spartans, prepare (tentatively) for glory!!!

Northwestern vs. Syracuse: Both of Funtik the Hog’s alma maters are involved in Guest Panel games this week. Quite exciting! Northwestern is favored by 1.5 points, so, if it was a neutral site game, they’d be favored by 4.5, and if at Northwestern, 7.5. That leads me to believe that the professionals in Las Vegas don’t have a lot of faith in Funtik’s beloved Orange. I don’t anticipate a lot of defense played in this game, so go with the over.

Illinois def. Western Michigan: Wait, hold on for a minute here; a game involving a Michigan directional team, and it’s NOT the oddball game of the week?!?! Can someone please go over to the Moderator’s house and make sure he’s okay and hasn’t been replaced by some demonoid robot? Pat Head, are you there? Please someone go check on the Moderator, I am very worried for his mental and physical health!!!

UTSA def. South Alabama: In the battle of Who Knows and Who Cares, it’s Who Cares by a late field goal.
