Here are the games for the Guest Panel to consider this week. Below are the standings as well. There was not much movement this week. Mel Kiper joined Batman at third place. Black Widow moved up a spot to sixth. Next week will be the last week for the Guest Panel Regular Season. The Guest Panel will have a separate competition for the Bowl Games.

1. OSU- Muck Fichigan! I'm excited and nervous about this game. Michigan is playing to ruin Ohio State's perfect season, which is enough motivation to play above expectations. Look for Braxton to be huge and really cement himself as a Heisman candidate.
ReplyDelete2. Arizona
3. Stanford
4. Florida
5. Oklahoma
6. Rice
ReplyDeleteBlack Widow's Picks:
1. Ohio St. over Michigan
2. Arizona over Arizona State: Is this the game where they burn the A on "A" Mountain?
3. Stanford over UCLA: Both teams will be coming off of big wins, which means both could have lackluster performances, but I think Stanford pulls this off. I'm not sure UCLA is for real yet.
4. Florida over Florida St.: With their QB back, I think Florida wins this game...just to make the BCS championship race all that more interesting.
5. Oklahoma over Oklahoma State: According to some in Knoxville, Tennessee fans would like to see Gundy explain his gender and his age to the Knoxville media while defending players on Tennessee's team in his new role as the Vols head coach. Yep, that's about as likely as Gruden leaving his cushy ESPN job for a Tennessee team with little talent, little money and NCAA sanctions. Thank you Lane Kiffin!!!
6. UTEP over Rice
And quietly, Georgia is slipping back into the 2012 National Championship picture...
ReplyDeleteOhio St. - Ohio State could be 0-11, I could be one game back of The Hog for first place, and I would STILL not pick That Team Up North. Go Bucks!
Arizona - My surrogate Michigan pick, going with Rich Rod
Stanford - Two teams coming off huge wins. I figure if they can shut down Oregon, they can handle UCLA. Plus UCLA has their spot in the PAC-8 title game. Two terrific coaching jobs by these staffs.
Florida St. - Gators playing worse as the year progresses...
Oklahoma
Rice - Rice Bowl...eligible
Spamsandwichsan says... nice ‘special’ on the 6 o’clock news about the increased ammonia levels in mirror lake after the beat michigan week plunge! wonder where that comes from??
ReplyDelete1. Ohio St. over Michigan - should i teach my 4 year old to not give a damn for the whole state of michigan? my grandma (the one who may or may not have grabbed Old Bag of Man’s ass at my wedding) thinks so!
2. Arizona over Arizona St.

First, I want to give major props to the moderator for this year's game selections. It has been the most challenging year that I've ever been a part of. So many games are literal coin flips.
My position in life is to win the competition you are in, if you can. At this point with 2 weeks left in the season, I need to make up 3 games. This week I absolutely need to make up 2 games in the standings.
The only way to accomplish my goal is to go for broke. Michigan is my only hope to the 2012 Buckeye Pregame Picks Contest Championship. And I'll add that this is truly sad.
Lot of Pac 12 action this season. Let's pick Arizona at home.
Let's go Stanford on the road. They are in more of a must win situation. And I honestly believe that UCLA would rather rematch Stanford in the Pac 12 Championship game than risk playing Oregon. It will be in the back of UCLA's minds.
Let's go with the Seminoles at home. Florida has looked rather pitiful in their last few contests. But they don't draw pictures in the win-loss column.
Another pick involving Oklahoma. What's up with that? I'm going with Oklahoma again.
Rice because with this win they become bowl eligible and this would be huge for them. Working against them is playing on the road in UTEP coach's last game.
A suggestion to the moderator - the default picks can be no better than the worst record of a panelist!!
Or to make it more exciting, why not have a default character that competes against real people every week?
Mel Kiper
ReplyDeleteOSU def Michigan - Urban gets it done Y1 & thanks his lucky stars he doesn't have to get beat in a BCS bowl game. Good news is he's got that much more time to focus on recruiting!
Arizona def Arizona St
Stanford def UCLA - I got punished for not following my gut on Stanford last week...
Florida def Florida St.
Oklahoma def Oklahoma St
UTEP def Rice
Funtik the Hog
ReplyDeleteGood and bad news for this big bad hog, bad news first: two straight 3-3 weeks, and a 6-5 season record in the “Clairvoyant Snout Bucket Rummage” Pick of the Week! WTF?!?! Good news: the rest of the Guest Panelists have been mediocre the last few weeks as well, and first place is still all mine (insert evil, maniacal movie villain laugh here)!!!
Ohio State def. Michigan: I still believe without a doubt that “Shoelace” Robinson is the most overrated player in all of college football, and that Hoke should have started Gardner at QB much earlier. The fact that Shoelace has been touted as a Heisman Trophy candidate the last two seasons is an absolute farce. He (and Michigan) the last two seasons have beaten every team they’re supposed to (save for the VATech bowl game win last season, which was a “by hook and by crook” game if there ever was one), and have lost to every team they’re supposed to. This game definitely falls into the latter category. Remember, this IS the Buckeyes’ bowl game for all intents and purposes, and the team’s seniors aren’t going to let them lose this game. I am quite surprised that the line is only 3.5 points. I expect at least a 7 point margin of victory, likely 10-14. Mark this game down as Funtik the Hog’s Clairvoyant Snout Bucket Rummage” Pick of the Week for Week #13 (6-5 season record in such games, not even sure what the point is anymore, other than not disappointing my loyal fans and readers).
Arizona def. Arizona State: The winner of this game receives the coveted Territorial Cup. As far as rivalry game trophies go (and rivalry game nicknames), that has to be one of the more lame ones out there.
Stanford def. UCLA: I watched a majority of the Stanford-Oregon last weekend, and I came away very impressed with the Stanford defense. If they can hold Oregon to 14 measly points, I’d be surprised if UCLA doesn’t get shut out.
Florida State def. Florida: Florida has to be the least impressive 10 win team in the history of intercollegiate football. Yet somehow, if Notre Dame loses to USC on Saturday night (which is entirely possible), and Florida wins this game (again, entirely possible), they’ll likely play in the BCS championship game. A big bunch of Funtikwash if you ask me, but, I’m not on the championship game selection committee (although I should be).
Oklahoma def. Oklahoma State: Not much to say about this game, really; other than it’s one of the better nicknamed rivalry games. Bedlam – it just screams state of Oklahoma craziness.
Rice def. UTEP: Apparently, the Miners’ leading receiver was charged earlier this week with making “terroristic threats.” Normally, this would lead me to select the Miners in this game, but, with a bowl berth on the line with a win, the Fightin’ Owls scrape out a victory over the “Threatin’” Miners.
