Here are the games for the Guest Panel to consider this week. Below are the standings as well. Funtik benefitted off a 4-1 record and joined Corso at first place. Ohio State beats Illinois - there will be no Champaign uncorked in Illinois. Will be hard not to look past this sneaky one...
ReplyDeleteGeorgia loses to Auburn - the dark horse of the SEC, 9-1 Auburn would otherwise be in the national title conversation if it weren't for that other good team from the same state...
Michigan St. beats Nebraska - for the sake of OSU beating the 'least-worst' Big 10 opponent in the title game...
Stanford beats USC - no let down this week for the Cards - gotta figure it will be hard for any guest-panelist to go for the homer in this one...
Michigan beats Northwestern - by no means is this one a gimmie - I'd guess there is no snout-bucketeering going on with this one...
Central Michigan loses to Western Michigan - Ahhh....the moderator's strategy is now clear to this short-sighted pundit. Save the best directionals for last!
OLD BAG OF MAN KEEPS SLIPPING IN THE STANDINGS. TIME TO MAKE A STRETCH RUN....OR STRETCH AND THEN RUN.
ReplyDelete1) OSU. I DON'T CARE HOW WINDY IT IS IN ILLINOIS.
2) AUBURN. TALK ABOUT A TALE OF TWO SEASONS FOR GEORGIA.
3) MSU. WE NEED THEM TO WIN.
4) STANFORD. SMART KIDS
5) UM. SOMETHINGS GOTTA GIVE.
6) W. MICH. PICK A DIRECTION.

ReplyDeleteAuburn: Dawgs D will get lit up Saturday
Michigan St.: Preps for the big showdown in three weeks
Stanford: they'll punt out of bounds, unlike Cal last week. Follow up a big W with one over a USC team that isn't that bad now that it lost its weak link...
Michigan: Gotta love Big Ten football...
Central Michigan: Since I am 0-3 picking WMU games the last two seasons, Broncs will manage to win this one. Funtik, the titles yours as long as WMU keeps showing up as the Oddball...

And the oddball game this week is:
6. Central Michigan
1. Ohio State - It is not possible for OSU to win by enough to move the needle. Maybe Florida State will lose to *looks at FSU schedule* Oh geez...
ReplyDelete2. Georgia - Auburn has had a nice surprising run, but I'm not yet ready to believe they have a chance to knock off the Tide. Prove me wrong, Tigers. Prove me wrong.
3. Michigan State - Nebraska could actually still win the B1G Legends Division with a win Saturday. They won't, but who would have thought?
4. Stanford - So it turns out that Stanford is actually pretty good. USC has done a nice job with a favorable Pac12 schedule that doesn't include Oregon or Washington.
5. Northwestern - Northwestern's season drove into a ditch, flipped over, and caught on fire after the Oct. 5 loss to OSU. Michigan joined them in the ditch a week later. Both teams desperately need a win and are looking to climb over each other to get there.
6. Central Michigan - Go Flying C's!
Spamsandwichsan says... sending in picks while on break at work (not using company property or network!!!)
ReplyDelete1. Ohio State over Illinois
2. Auburn over Georgia
3. Michigan St. over Nebraska - unless sparty is sparty
4. Stanford over USC - might be a close game which would be good for the Bucks!
5. Northwestern over Michigan - won’t help our BCS, but Michigan = bad
6. Central Michigan over Western Michigan - worked with a guy who told me he was named an honorary chippewa after chasing a buffalo out of a flower garden for a local tribe. he also didn’t always drink beer, but when he did it was Dos Equis.
Do the other Guest Panelists feel that breath on the back of their necks? It's the hog's breath, and it smells terrible. Be afraid, be very afraid...
ReplyDeleteOhio State def. Illinois: Hard to believe that this is Ohio State's only "trophy" game. Shouldn't the three games every season that the Buckeyes play against the likes of Toledo/Akron/Miami (OH) involve some ceremonial handing off of a $500,000 trophy check or something? Mark this game down as Funtik the Hog's Clairvoyant Snout Bucket Rummage Pick of the Week #12 (10-1 record in such games thus far...MARK IT DOWN!).
Georgia def. Auburn: Pretty cool nickname for this game: "The Deep South's Oldest Rivalry." Go with the Tigers, as I'm pretty sure that the Bulldogs have recruited the Guest Panel Moderator as their starting RB due to injuries.
Michigan St. def. Nebraska: Insert obligatory Funtik the Hog "SPARTANS, PREPARE FOR GLORY!" comment here. Come on loyal readers, did you really expect me to say something else?!?!
Stanford def. USC: Funtik the Hog has a big man crush on all things Stanford (but we all know whom his heart truly belongs to - the Fudge), but is quite worried about this game for the Cardinal, especially after its big win vs. the Mighty Ducks. Take the Cardinal, but leave the points on the table.
Michigan def. Northwestern: Which team to pick - the one that is 0-fer in the conference, or the one that can't win consecutive games to save its life? Going with the Wolverines because they're the slightly less smelly t**d in this match-up. But fear not, they are still quite smelly. Bring the noseplug for this one if you'll be watching.
Central Michigan vs. Western Michigan: Last week and this week have been the Moderator's favorite two weeks of the college football season - his three favorite teams all in action against each other. BTW, this is game is taking place in Waldo Stadium. What?!?!

Funtik the Hog was listening to his favorite sports talk radio show this morning and every Friday, the hosts pick 1-2 random college/NFL games as their "fatties" of the week (i.e., the games in which they tell their listeners that they should pick a certain team with the points, the over/under, etc., etc.). Why a sports talk radio show in Kiev is talking about American college/NFL football games (and is in English as well), don't ask me.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, of great interest to Guest Panel readers (namely, the Moderator) is that one of the aforementioned sports talk radio hosts not only picked last week's Michigan "directional" game as his "fattie" of the week, but also this week's game as well! Additionally, he exclaimed, on the air, "I love the Michigan directional schools!" Mr. Moderator, are you moonlighting as a sports talk radio host in Kiev?!?! Given up on this whole BS lawyering thing already?!?!
Additionally, the Moderator and I have been talking, and we decided that there needs to be an official Guest Panel road trip in 2014 to one of the Michigan directional school football games. This adventure will take the award for most pointless college football fan trip ever, but it will sure be hella fun, and funny. Who's in?
