Guest Panel-Week 15 Games and Standings

Here are the games for the Guest Panel to consider this week. Below are the standings as well. There were no changes in the top three spots as the four panelists all had 5-1 records. Only W.T. and Ice Bucket correctly predicted the Ole Miss victory and Ice Bucket was the only panelist with a 6-0 record. The competition is close in the final week, who will separate themselves from the pack?

TIEBREAKER-Please list the total number of points scored for the Big Ten Championship Game. In the event of a tie for first place, I will look to the tiebreaker and the panelist closest to the total number of points, above or below, will break the tie and win. I will only use the tiebreaker for first place.

This is the last week for the regular season competition. The Guest Panel will return with a clean slate for the bowl games.

1. W.T. (56-28) (5-1 last week)

  3. OLD BAG OF MAN STANDS LITTLE CHANCE OF WINNING. BUT PLAYING FOR PRIDE IS ENOUGH.

    1) OSU. NO LIE THAT THIS WILL BE A TOUGH ONE. BUT I'M A HOMER.

    2) OREGON. YOU THINK MICHIGAN WISHES THEY WOULD HAVE KEPT DICK ROD?

    3) ALABAMA. TOUGHEST CONFERENCE AND MISSOURI IS IN YOUR TITLE GAME. NICE.

    4) GA TECH. THIS IS THE WEEK WHERE FSU FINALLY LOSES.

    5) BAYLOR.

    6) SMU. GO 'STANGS.

    TIEBREAKER: 54

  4. Gonna go a bit contrarian with picks #1 & 5, in hopes of gaining some ground in the final week. My equivalent of attempting a 65-yard field goal on the last play of the game...

Ohio State, 24-21. Defense shores up, forces some turnovers, and Tom Herman proves why he is in Mensa
Oregon: Zona is better than I expected (hey--didn't Rich Rod once coach at Michigan???), but they won't get the Ducks twice in a season
Alabama: Tale of two divisions in the SEC. Mediocre Big 12 team has won the east now in consecutive seasons
Florida St.: When will Karma befall Jameis? Probably not till January...
Kansas St.: This week's wrench in the College Football Playoff
Connecticut: who attends games like these in early-December???

  5. What!? I went 6-0 last week and had the best record of all panelists! Too bad I'm still in last place. :-(

    4. Florida St

Wisconsin beats Ohio State - no Barrett + Melvin Show = sad Buckeye
    Oregon beats Arizona
Alabama beats Mizzou - if you've ever lost to Indiana you don't get picked
Georgia Tech beats FSU - wouldn't it be nice for Baylor to get the call!
Baylor beats KSU - and if the above un-folds - the tap on the shoulder
    SMU beats Connecticut

  10. Final week of the Guest Panel regular season...what a long, strange trip it's been. We've had highs, we've had lows (thanks for nothing, South Carolina), and we've had in betweens. But as always, it's been a helluva lot fun. Thank you to the Moderator for another great season of games, and for allowing me to make fun of his irrational love of the Michigan directional schools on a weekly basis.

Ohio State def. Wisconsin (total points - 51): Not confident in this pick, and I think we all know why. But, I do have a lot of confidence in Pope Urban, and methinks he learned a lot from the debacle that was the Big 10 Championship Game last season. He'll obviously devise a game plan around Jones' strengths and avoid his weaknesses. Expect to see a lot of Zeke, which not only limits Jones' potential mistakes, but also chews up time and keeps Gordon off the field.

Oregon def. Arizona: Yes, the Wildcats have beaten the Ducks twice in a row, so why not three games, right? Although I wouldn't be shocked to see the Wildcats win, the Ducks are favored in this game for a reason. In real life, I take a wildcat to beat a duck anytime, but in the fantasy world of college football, give me MM to beat Anu.

Alabama def. Missouri: The Iron Bowl last week had to be one of the most entertaining and fun games to watch of the entire season. And Amari Cooper is going to look really good in Oakland silver and black or New York Jet green and white next season. "Misery" gives the Crimson Tide a game for 2 1/2 quarters, but Cooper & Co. come up big in the last 1 1/2 quarters of the game and win semi-comfortably. Mark this game down as Funtik the Hog's Clairvoyant Snout Bucket Rummage Pick of the Week #15 (9-5 record in such games thus far; not a record worthy of such swine royalty, but, at least it's not Mel Kiper's Hair's record, am I right?!?!).

Florida St. def. Georgia Tech: It shocks me that FSU is #4 in the latest College Football Playoff Poll. They're a Power 5 Conference team with a ridiculous unbeaten streak, and they're the defending national champion with the reigning Heisman Trophy winner. Switch the jersey to Oregon or Alabama and we'd all be saying it's a dynasty team. The Seminoles and my College Football Man Crush of the 2014 Season will make a few mistakes during the game, but Famous Jameis will also make a few plays that no one else in the sport could possibly make.

Baylor def. Kansas State: A game that I could very easily see going the other way. Kansas State's two losses were to the #5 and #6 ranked teams at the time of the game. Granted, it's best win is versus an above average Oklahoma team, but the "other" Wildcats have a way of controlling game tempo and using their defense to win games; this especially holds true if Petty is limited due to his concussion symptoms. Funtik goes with the Teddy Bears, but with much fear.

Connecticut def. SMU: How did this stinker of a game end up on this weekend with all of these other amazing match-ups???? Well, I guess the schedule makers needed to stick this Clash of the Titans somewhere. However, just remember this game come mid-late February when all you have to watch sports-wise is regular season college and pro basketball, and hockey. You may want to DVR this one and save it for a snowy late February Saturday afternoon. You can thank me then.
