Nostrapigskinus Writes:
ReplyDeleteOhio State def. Illinois: I hate to say it, but, Juice Williams might be one of the better QBs in the Big Ten conference at this point. Does that mean that Illinois will beat OSU for the second straight season? Uhhhh...H*LL NO. No Rashard Mendenhall, their defense is a bit Swiss Cheese-esque (zing!), and they lost to a MAC team last weekend. Look for a final score similar to the MSU and Northwestern games, plus/minus 7 points.
Wisconsin def. Minnesota: I give Minnesota a lot of credit for the season they've had thus far, but they've been exposed these past few weeks. On a side note, the winner of the this receives, in my humble opinion, by far the coolest trophy awarded to the winner of a college football game (bowl or non-bowl): Paul Bunyan's Axe. For more information, please refer to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Bunyan's_Axe (on an additional side note, Wisconsin and Minnesota used to play for the "Slab of Bacon". This rivalry MUST have a monopoly on coolest trophy awarded to the winner of the game award).
Notre Dame def. Navy: As much as I love Navy (being born and raised 45 mins. away from Annapolis, and having visited the campus on numerous occasions), and as much as I hate Notre Dame (please see numerous other Guest Panel pick commentaries), I can't pick against the Golden Domers in this game. Navy got their 1 win every 43 years last year. Somehow, the 300 lbs. tub of goo known as Charlie Weis and "The Lebron James of HS Football" (cough cough) Jimmy Clausen manage to steal a win in Annapolis.
Florida State def. Boston College: Wow, how did Florida State get to be 7-2?! You'd figure I would know about this, but apparently not. I sort of yearn for the days when FSU was an automatic 10 win/top 5 ranked team, their starting QB was 30 years old and had played 6 years of minor league baseball by the time he got to FSU, and free shoes were given out in abundance to all members of the football team.
Oregon State def. California: I'd much rather see Ohio State play Oregon State in the Rose Bowl than have a OSU-USC rematch. Go Beavers!!!
UAB def. Tulane: 100% total guess.
OLD BAG OF MAN NEEDS THESE WINS:
ReplyDelete1) OSU. NO REPEATS OF LAST YEAR.
2) WISCONSIN. MINNESOTA NOW = WISCONSIN A MONTH AGO.
3) NOTRE DAME. NOT BECAUSE CHARLIE IS MAKING THE CALLS....AGAIN.
4) FLORIDA STATE. BOWDEN AND HIS TRENDY OAKLEYS GET THE JOB DONE.
5) OREGON STATE. TO KEEP THE STREAK ALIVE...SCREWING UP THE BCS.
6) TULANE. RIDE THE WAVE.
1. Ohio State over Illinois - This may look like a mismatch on paper--especially with the beatdown the Bucks put on Northwestern last week--but at least since Tressel has come to town, this has been a close game every time. OSU also struggles against mobile qbs.
ReplyDelete2. Wisconsin over Minnesota - The Badgers have already hit rock bottom and are back on the upswing.
3. Navy over Notre Dame - I'd say the same about ND, but they are actually playing a decent team, so they're out of luck.
4. Florida State over Boston College - Ok, I'll admit it. Florida State isn't terrible this season.
5. Oregon State over California - I'll just call it a gut feeling. Did you know that the Beavers are still in the driver's seat in the Pac 10?
6. Tulane over UAB - Blazers? Please.
Buckeye Cock:
ReplyDelete1. OSU - So, if we win out, does that mean we get a share of the Big Ten title? Revenge on our mind.
2. Wisconsin - With Minni's star WR out of action, I like the Badgers.
3. Notre Dame - I loved that they got rocked by BC last week.
4. Florida State
5. Cal
6. UAB

All picks last week and this week have been provided by the Little Big Dog!
Pat Head's Picks:
ReplyDelete1. Ohio State over Illinois: Why can't the Big 10 just add another team and have a championship game???? Perhaps that would shut the whiners up about sharing the Big 10 title. Shut the haters up and add a damn team already! OSU will beat the inconsistent Fighting Zookers in Champaign -- Hey, is that where Champagne comes from?
2. Wisconsin over Minnesota: The Badgers stopped the bleeding last week against Indiana and will roll on passed Minnesota. Wait...do badgers roll?
3. Navy over Notre Dame: My position on Classless still stands.
4. Boston College over Florida State: My position on Bowden still stands.
5. Oregon State over Cal: Perhaps this is a mistake, but I liked the way the Beavers played USC this season. Perhaps they can pull it together and beat the Bears at home.
6. Tulane over UAB: UAB lost to Tennessee this year. That's all I got to say on that one. I'm going to go cry now. When does basketball season start???????

ReplyDelete1. Ohio State over Illinois - gotta pick the bucks again this week. illinois does look decent, but i think osu has finally gotten their offense in line... literally! i would hope to see a nice lead and boeckman back in the game for a few drives. he may not be the best quarterback, but i think he does have some tips for pryor that may help out next week (not to look past this week).
2. Wisconsin over Minnesota - once again, we will probably be able to smell this game all the way from madison! i gotta pick the badgers since they have won with some considerable gaps or had much closer losses compared to the gophers... this could come back to bite me, but i'm afraid minnesota has fallen prone to the 'fall football syndrome' that usually plagues teams such as michigan state and SEC teams that are over rated.
3. Navy over Notre Dame - ND is getting better, but Navy actually looks decent, as long as they don't break out in sing and dance or try to swab the poop deck during halftime!
4. Boston College vs. Florida State - state is doing good, and i think they will have a nice home field night advantage. besides, all the BC fans are probably too busy talking about 'bawston' to even cheer for their team. hopefully Florida State will be 'wicked cool' and BC won't stand a chance!
5. Oregon State over California - oregon state did picked off USC. i'm not saying they are better than USC (since they have made a pretty good run since that loss), but Oregon State is definately capable of winning, especially with the possiblity of a spotlight bowl game if they play their cards right.
6. Tulane over - the green wave? i hope that's not refering to the mold and mildew that is left over from katrina? too soon?? plus, isn't blazers a gay bar on the corner of 5th and high st that has a $1.50 daily domestic happy hour?? how do i know this? i saw a sign when walked insi... i mean walked past it last weekend...
