Scouting the Bobcats

So Far this Season
The Bobcats are 1-1 with a 33-10 victory at home against Wofford and a 20-13 conference loss to Toledo last week. The team was 9-5 last season, including a loss in the Little Caesers Pizza Bowl against Marshall, another OSU opponent this season. The team only averages 23 points/game but the defense does hold teams to 15 points/game. The spread offense is fairly balanced so far this season with 138 yards/game on the ground and 119 yards/game passing. The defense has allowed on average 161 yards on the ground and 55 yards in the air.
 
Offense
At QB is Boo Jackson, a junior college transfer who played in relief of the injured QB in the 2008 game in Columbus. Jackson is 24 of 39 for 235 yards, one touchdown, and four interceptions. Three of those interceptions were against Toledo. Also listed at QB is junior Phil Bates. Bates was 1 of 5 for 4 yards and no interceptions in the Wofford game, and did not play in the Toledo game. The star receiver is senior LaVon Brazill. He also returns punts and he returned four punts for TDs last season. The main runningback is senior Vince Davidson who had 70 yards in the Wofford game and 22 against Toledo.
 
Defense
Leading the team in tackles is senior Noah Keller at middle linebacker, and he has 316 career tackles. At cornerback Julian Posey has 15 career pass break-ups and 19 passes defended.
