My best pick of the year last week Texas A&M was negated by losses from Michigan and Mississippi State.
It has become nearly impossible to jump the standings now. It looks more likely that I'll drop to 3rd or 4th due to wild picking of colossal upsets.
I don't play for second place. I want my t-shirt and certificate and will go down fighting!
OSU destroys 'That team-up-north' -No commentary needed...and Mel Kiper duly apologizes for last weeks traitorous pick.
Alabama rolls Auburn - Tide will wash the Tigers out of their chance at a national title.
Boise State beats Nevada - It's crummy that ANY game Nevada is part of actually counts for ANYTHING relevant...here's hoping this pick goes down in flames.
Texas A&M hooks Texas - No bowl eligibility for the Longhorns this year
Oregon smacks Arizona - This might be the best matchup of the week behind the Bama game. If this is a late game the odds get closer to the Wildcats.
Akron zips Buffalo - Going with Carl logic here - NEVER pick Buffalo
Pat Head's Picks: Pat Head is thankful that her Vols have a chance of making a bowl game this year after an incredibly dismal start to the season!
1. OSU over Michigan
2. Auburn over Alabama: I was shocked to see Alabama was favored in this game, but I think it will be super close with Auburn on top.
3. Boise State over Nevada: I don't think this will even be close.
4. Texas A&M over Texas: I think Texas may pull off the upset at home, but I'm going to pick the Aggies just because I'm feeling risk averse.
5. Oregon over Arizona: I don't think Oregon will lose to Arizona...but they could lose to Oregon State.
6. Akron over Buffalo: Is there any college football on Saturday besides OSU v. Michigan and UT v. UK?
1. Ohio State over m*ch*g*n - I was impressed with Ohio State's defense last week, and that was the previous cause for concern coming into this game.
2. Alabama over Auburn - I think the Tide can stop Cam Newton.
3. Boise State over Nevada - No, this is not jumping on the bandwagon.
4. A&M over Texas - I'm not sure that the Aggies are really good, but the Longhorns definitely aren't.
5. Oregon over Arizona - I don't think this one will be close.
6. Akron over Buffalo - I think Buffalo still sucks.
OSU
Alabama
Boise ST
A&M
Oregon
Buffalo - Yes, I'm actually picking against my hometown Zips.
Old Bag of Man gives thanks and makes picks:
1) OSU. The streak continues. I just hope DickRod gets to stay around another year so they can be mediocre and we can continue beating them.
2) Alabama. Auburn can't cheat there way to this win.
3) Boise St. Unfortunately Boise will win because even though Nevada is ranked, they are still not good.
4) Texas A&M. If everything is bigger in Texas, would this season be a bigger dissapointment?
5) Oregon. Pac-10 equals bad.
6) Buffalo. The losing streak continues.
Spamsandwichsan says...
1. W: OSU - if were not up 21 points by 4th quarter, look for a middle aged drunken irishman to storm the field in the nude to protest (i.e. that would be me)... just remember, it’s going to be cold out on Saturday, so cut me some slack!!
2. W: Alabama - Cam Newton transfers to Alabama at halftime after Nick Saban offers to buy him an imitation Heisman trophy since he will probably be ineligible for a real one.
3. W: Nevada - can’t move much farther down the rankings, so I might as well go for it!
4. W: Texas - A&M squeaked past Nebraska with some questionable officiating last week (at least that’s what Bo thinks), and the home crowd should have a factor
5. W: Oregon - i would like an upset, but probably won’t happen. Oregon fans are the worst (possibly worse than Wisconsin), so i couldn’t imagine playing a night game there!
6. W: Akron - buffalo defeated the Rhode island rams who are joining the Northeast Conference (now that their program is on the rise). I'm not impressed with that win, so Akron may be able to keep from getting skunked the entire season!
Carl's Stone Cold Lead Pipe Locks of the Century (of the Week #13):
Carl has got to give his major props to Pat Head. Four game lead over her nearest competitor with two weeks left in the regular season. But, Carl is ahead of the Cock in the standings, so, all is right in the world.
OSU def. Michigan: I'm going to assume that the UM Director of Athletics already has RichRod's pink slip written up and prepared. And memo to Devier Posey: please don't do that again. I really want to like you, but, if you do that sort of thing again, Carl might have to hunt you down and inflict his own special brand of hurt on you.
Auburn def. Alabama: Once again, this Auburn game pick is made on the assumption that Newton won't be ruled ineligible before the start of the game.
Boise State def. Nevada: Although Carl (obviously, see above) doesn't think it's going to happen, it would be fun to speculate what would happen if the Tide defeated the Tigers and this game held true to form. Somehow, I still think the powers that be of the BCS would still pick either LSU or, more likely, Oklahoma to play in the BCS title game over the Broncs or the Frogs.
Texas A&M def. Texas: Mack Brown, look what happens when you let Carl's Man Crush of the 2009 college football season, Colt McCoy, graduate!!!!
Oregon def. Arizona: Ya know, when you go to college in the state of Arizona, are you really concerned with/concentrating on football? And that, my friends, is why the "Mighty" Ducks will win this game.
Akron def. Buffalo: Mr. Moderator, Esq., once again, the oddball game of the week involves two schools that are not Michigan directional schools. Carl is starting to think that this whole marriage thing is affecting your feelings towards your first and true love - the Michigan directional schools. Let it be known for the record that Carl is not pleased.
BIG DOG STINKS, his son is the 'picker' now!
