  2. 1. OSU - I was shocked that we won the Wisconsin game. That being said, if we can beat Bucky we can surely beat the Hoosiers.
    2. Arkansas
    3. LSU - might actually have to watch this one. Should be exciting.
    4. Michigan
    5. Missouri
    6. Rice

  3. Old Bag of Man is here to say:

    1) OSU. No let downs here. Someone on the radio is calling Indiana "Iniana" cause they got no "D".

    2) Arkansas. Hate both coaches but have to pick one.

    3) Alabama. Not a believer in LSU's offense.

    4) Michigan. Is this the same Iowa team that lost to Minnesota on Saturday?

    5) Baylor. Time to bounce back from the loss on Saturday.

    6) UTEP. Didn't Rice give up a record 9 touchdown passes last week? Why am I asking so many questions in this weeks panel?

  6. Ohio State over Indiana. We will see who in this pool has some guts and picks Indiana. I have no guts: 42-7 Buckeyes. Kenny Guiton gets some reps...

Arkansas over South Carolina. Hogs have barely hung on the last two weeks vs. SEC bottom feeders, but are a whole different team at home. Whoo, Pig...Sooey!

Alabama over LSU. Trent Richardson wins his Heisman Trophy Saturday night.

Michigan over Iowa. Doesnt' it seem every four years, Ferentz has a total clunker of a team? Minnesota? Are you serious??!!

Mizzou over Baylor. Every Bear opponent not named Stephen Austin has scored at least 25 points on them this year. They are wasting a year with a once-in-a-lifetime QB.

UTEP over Rice. Like a Brit in 1942, Rice is shellshocked from the aerial attack it absorbed last week. And the UTEP message board is titled 'Mine Shaft.' Here's betting no Chilean coal diggers browse that website...

  7. Buckeye Cock:

WOW! I got to rush the field last week. Woo hoo!!! Go Bucks!!

    1. Ohio State - We actually have a chance of winning the division if we can win out.

    2. Arkansas - Go Razorbacks! If SC had a consistent QB and Lattimore didn't get injured they could make a run in the SEC. Not so fast.

    3. LSU - They are ready, they have been tested. I'm not sold on Trent Richardson. Geaux Tigers!

    4. Michigan - Did Iowa really lose to Minnesota last week? Really??

    5. Missouri - The Baylor QB is overrated.

    6. UTEP

Special thanks to Ryan Miller for help with my picks and commentary this week.

We were certain on Ohio State.

Arkansas can win but it will be tough.

I went against Ryan and picked LSU in the upset. I just feel they have all the parts and just looked so impressive in their night road win in West Virginia.

Missouri has only quality losses this year and it doesn't appear Baylor's defense is any good at all.

    "Denard's gonna blow up man."
    - Ryan Miller

Finally, UTEP we feel is moving in the right direction. They have won more than Rice.

When asked about BuckeyePregame, Ryan said, "I got nothing. You can't put me on the spot like that."

  9. Pat Head's Picks:

    1. Ohio State over IU: What an AMAZING game last week! I was a little concerned when I saw how close Miller was to the line of scrimmage, but what a heads up play by the young QB. Amazing!

    2. Arkansas over South Carolina: I hate picking an SEC West team over an East team, but South Carolina is not good. Perhaps they played conservatively last week b/c they knew UT had no offense, but I still think they are O V E R R A T E D...

    3. Alabama over LSU: The Crimson Tide are favored over LSU, and I think that's right. Playing in Tuscaloosa against Alabama, who is playing very well, will be too tough for the Tigers.

    4. Michigan over Iowa: I hope I'm wrong on this pick.

    5. Baylor over Mizzou: Not sure on this pick.

    6. Rice over UTEP?????

  11. Paul the Octopus11/03/2011 10:29 PM

I tells ya Guest Panelist readers, I can’t figure out this Ohio State team to save my life. Yes, we all knew this wasn’t going to be an 11 win and BCS bowl berth season, but, I didn’t think it was going to be a 7-6 Motor City Bowl season (even though I don’t think the Big 10 gets a berth in that bowl anyways, but you get my analogy). I thought that the Outback Bowl or something similar would be fitting. After the first 6 games, it looked like Detroit, here we come (at best)! Then Fickell realizes that Miller complete a pass to save his life (at least not yet), Herron is coming back, and the defense is pretty good, and wins 2 straight games over ranked opponents to climb back into things, and make a division title and a berth in the conference championship game a somewhat realistic possibility. Even more troubling, Paul the Octopus only has a 4-4 record picking the Ohio State games this year. The turmoil continues…onto this week’s picks.

Ohio State def. Indiana: IU even sucks at men’s basketball now. Not to mention the school is in Bloomington, IN. What the h*ll are those poor students supposed to do for entertainment?!?! Go cow tipping? Make moonshine in bathtubs? Go cow tipping while drinking moonshine made in bathtubs? For the gambling degenerates (and I know I’m taking the easy way out with this pick), mark this game down as Paul the Octopus 8 Tentacle Death-Hold Pick of the Week #10 (7-2 record in such games so far; it was a close one last week!).

Arkansas def. South Carolina: South Carolina has no offense (especially now that Lattimore is injured and “Kiss Me, I’m S**tfaced!” Garcia has been dismissed from the team), but a great defense. Arkansas has a decent enough defense, and offense coming out of its ears. It’ll be close, but with the homefield advantage and a slightly better team overall, the Hogs win at home, and jorts (if you don’t know what jorts are, you’re probably wearing them right now) wearers across the South celebrate.

Alabama def. LSU: So I hear that there’s some sort of huge college football team being played in Alabama this weekend…I can truly see the outcome of this game coming down to one of Les “I’m a Joker, I’m a Smoker, I’m a Midnight Toker” Miles’ crazy 4th down or trick play calls. Let’s just hope that Bryant-Denny Stadium has sufficient amounts of grass for him to munch on Saturday night.

Iowa def. Michigan: Toughest game of the week to pick. Yes, Iowa lost at Minnesota (does a single state have a worse combination of largest public state university team and NFL team than Minnesota?! Seriously!) last week, but they’re a different team at home, and they have beaten the “Extincts” two seasons in a row. Upon closer inspection of Michigan’s record, the only win of significance this year has been vs. Notre Dame, at home, first game at the Big House at night, on national TV. And that was back earlier in the season when ND couldn’t get out of its own way. Probably going to regret this pick around 3:30 on Saturday, but, right now, it sounds good to me.

Missouri def. Baylor: Baylor, you’ve burned this Guest Panelist one too many times this season. Plus, this game is a match-up nightmare for Baylor – their run defense is the equivalent of Swiss Cheese, so, the Missouri RBs will run at them all day and keep RGIII off the field as long as possible.

UTEP def. Rice: Transitive property at work here folks; UTEP actually played Houston pretty close (losing only by a TD), and Rice, well…I think Houston QB Case Keenum officially never has to pay for a drink in the city of Houston for the rest of his life now, thanks to the Owls. Plus, UTEP clearly has a much cooler mascot and logo than Rice. An owl, really; come on now! Owls live in barns and turn their head around 180 degrees; they certainly can’t play football worth a damn.
