Old Bag of Man does not run the ball on first down.
1) OSU. We need this. Time to send the Nittany Lions to the showers early...without the coaches.
2) Nebraska. Both teams have burned me this year. So I'll go with the team I hate the least.
3) Wisconsin. Despite two losses they're probably the best team the Big 10 has to offer.
4) Iowa. Purdue can't do that two weeks in a row.
5) Houston. Put another 70 on the scoreboard.
6) UCF. Because I don't know which state East Carolina is in. There is not East Carolina, only North and South.
Hudy's Picks on the Road to Redemption

3. Wisconsin vs. Illinois - Wisconsin
4. Iowa vs. Purdue - Iowa

And the oddball game this week is:
6. UCF vs. East Carolina - East Carolina

2. Nebraska
3. Wisconsin
4. Iowa

spamsandwichsan says...
1. Penn St. over Ohio St. - after last week’s game, i thought it couldn’t get any worse... then i watched the stinking browns on sunday. what a terrible weekend!
2. Michigan over Nebraska - home crowd may edge this one out (as long as ‘of the nards’ robinson doesn’t get hurt), but could easily go either way!
3. Wisconsin over Illinois
4. Iowa over Purdue - hangover loss, if you consider last week’s win over OSU an upset
5. Houston over Southern Methodist - this would normally be an odd-ball game, right??
6. UCF over East Carolina - mike leach would make a good coach for east carolina , as long as swabbing the poop deck is permitted in the locker room!
Ohio St. over Penn State. Just two ugly football teams with ugly pasts. Buckeyes stuff the run, McGloinbolden can't hurt them with pass. 10 - 9 instant classic.
Michigan over Nebraska. Two straight road trips undo the Huskers.
Wisconsin over Illinois. Buckeye Fan lobs a Larry King softball at us with this one. Even I--fading like a wisp of smoke in this competition--should get this one right.
Purdue over Iowa. My tendency is to think Boilers got too heady beating OSU last week (rush the field??? C'mon...), but it's a bad road team playing a good home team.
Houston over SMU. Over/under on Coogs' point total: 60
UCF over East Carolina. Five of UCF's six losses are by seven points or under. Knights ride into the evening with a win in Greenville.
Well Kids - based on last weeks experiment by not taking the favorites, MKH sadly (happy for the rest of the panel) fell back a few notches. Fortunately the only saving grace was the odd-ball game. He even messed up the location of the Purdue fiasco (East vs. West Lafayette). Don't think it would have mattered one iota...this season is about as abysmal as they get. Here's to a week of coin-toss pick-em!
PSU v OSU - Win Buckeyes...is there anything even remotely positive to say about these two teams at the moment. Even with such crummy records at least if both former coaches were on the sidelines it would be somewhat interesting. I'll set the over/under on number of NCAA officials scrutinizing this game at 40.
Nebraska v Michigan - Win Cornhuskers...mostly because they are better and U of M is a joke, has always been a joke, will always be a joke and in all other parallel universes Ann Arbor still smells like rotten hot-dogs. On a side note I have enjoyed returning all Buckeye related vitriol in spades to my PSU undergrad - U of M law grad cousin this past week.
Wisconsin v Illinois - Win Badgers....c'mon you can't honestly expect Zook to win a home game against a team that matters do you. Not that I'm saying we're anything to scoff at this season, but anytime you have a chance to play OSU it counts!
Iowa v Purdue - Win Purdue...Iowa lost to Minnesota. This one requires no more analysis. On the other hand the appearance of Vandenberg's mom should raise the MILF quotient in Indiana a few bars. To lend a bit of perspective to those offended by this comment remember...MKH is discussing the attractive merits of an established hot mom public figure while Jerry Sandusky rapes little boys in shower-rooms and then is covered for by those in power to stop him.
Southern Methodist v Houston - Win Houston. Question: what does the team with the most passing yards and most points for in the FBS have in common with a national title contender. Answer: nothing. But it's still cool that MKH get's to mention both MILF's and Couger's in the same thread. Booyah!!!!
UCF v East Carolina - Win East Carolina.
Buckeye Cock:
Oh Buckeyes, no Big 10 Championship game now.
1. Ohio State - I predict neither of these teams will elect to go to a bowl game.
2. Michigan - too much for Nebraska to handle at home.
3. Wisconsin - not even close.
4. Purdue - This should be interesting
5. Houston - Give him the Heisman
6. East Carolina
Batman
1. Ohio St.
2. Michigan
3. Wisconsin
4. Iowa
5. Houston
6. UCF
I think these are rock solid picks. Glad I made last minute changes last week because Penn State is in shambles, if they win another game this year that will be monumental for their program.
Ohio State should have won last week with that extra point. May have cost Fickell his job, sadly.
For good insight I used to always read Pat Forde's Forde Yard Dash on ESPN. But I think he moved because there haven't been any articles for a long time.
Poll for the panel: Would you retain a football coach who averages 2.8 wins a year over the past 13 seasons?
Pat Head’s Picks: Thank you Joe for not including UT v. Vandy for the oddball game this wee.
1. Ohio St. over Penn State: Last week’s loss was horrible. I hope OSU turns things around this week.
2. Nebraska over Michigan
3. Wisconsin over Illinois
4. Iowa over Purdue
5. Houston over SMU
6. East Carolina over UCF
Dear Mr. Guest Panel Moderator,
For the 2012 Buckeye Pregame Guest Panel Weekly Pick Selections, may I kindly request that the you do not request the Guest Panelists to select the winner of any game involving the following teams:
Ohio State
Missouri
Texas A&M
Baylor
LSU
Please take this request under serious consideration. Myself and my fellow Guest Panelists thank you in advance for your time, consideration, compassion, and sympathy.
Sincerely,
Paul the Octopus
Congrats for this week go out to those Guest Panelists who had the guts to pick Mizzou over Texas last week (I should have had the same amount of guts), and to the Hair, who, despite only picking 1 game correctly last week, still held onto first place all by himself, a tribute to his strong picks this season, and for consulting Crocodile Dundee and the ghost of Steve Irwin regarding all the chosen games. Onto the picks for Week #12…
Ohio State def. Penn State: This game promises to be pretty ugly on the offensive side of the ball for both teams. For the gamblers amongst us, whatever the over/under is for this game, take the under. Crazy offensive stat of the week: Ohio State’s TE Stoneburner has 12 receptions for the season, 6 of them for TDs. But, watch out for the return of WR Posey for this game. He’s a big X factor, and will hopefully stabilize the Ohio State passing game and draw some coverage away from the other receivers. And memo to all of the Ohio State fans in attendance on Saturday afternoon: please show some class to the opposing team’s players, coaches, staff, and visiting fans. They shouldn’t be made fun of and faulted for the actions of a very select few.
Nebraska def. Michigan: I still don’t buy Michigan as the 18th best team in the country in any way, shape, or form. Shoelace is an INT waiting to happen. Not to mention he’s got a bum wrist going into this game. Perhaps that might be the best thing for Michigan, Robinson not playing. Either way, go with Rex “Peyton Hillis Jr.” Burkhead and T-Magic in this game.
Wisconsin def. Illinois: Wasn’t it only a month ago that the nation was talking about the Fightin’ Zooks as a possible Rose Bowl team? For the gambling degenerates, mark this game down as the Paul the Octopus 8 Tentacle Death-Hold Pick of the Week #12 (8-3 record in such games so far; it would be 9-2 if Boise State wasn’t relegated to its 3rd string RB late in the 4th quarter last week and it had a placekicker who could actually successfully do his job).
Iowa def. Purdue: Wow, four Big Ten games to pick for this week. Must be a new record for the Guest Panel. Toughest game of the week, by far, to pick. Iowa is the better team, but they can’t win on the road to save their lives. Purdue, although playing at home and coming off a huge OT win vs. Ohio State, is one of the most inconsistent teams in the country. Something’s gotta give, and I say it’s the Hawkeyes’ road losing streak.
Houston def. SMU: One could easily argue that SMU has the best win this season for either team (40-33 at TCU back when they were still ranked). However, they also have some pretty gnarly losses as well. I put the over/under on the number of Case Keenum TD passes in this game at 768.
UCF def. East Carolina: Paul the Octopus had some fun times at East Carolina in his younger, pre-Guest Panel days, as the Moderator can certainly attest to (because he witnessed most of them). Alas, all the fun times of yesteryear had by Paul the Octopus won’t help the Pirates emerge victorious on Saturday. BTW, did anyone else notice that the 6 Guest Panel games for this week were only split up between two conferences? Is there some sort of subliminal messaging going on here, Mr. Moderator?
