Braxton Miller left the field on the seventh offensive play after losing his helmet. His knee was evaluated in the locker room and he did not return to play. In his absence Kenny Guiton led Ohio State with two touchdown passes, ran for 83 rushing yards including one touchdown, and completed 19 of 28 passes for 152 yards. On the first play after Miller exited, freshman running back Dontre Wilson ran seven yards into the endzone. Later in the first quarter Guiton completed a 27-yard touchdown pass to Corey Brown and Jordan Hall ran in a touchdown. There were two additional touchdowns in the first half, Guiton's 41-yard touchdown run and Rod Smith's 1-yard touchdown run. Ohio State led 35-0 at the half. The offense continued to score in the second half with Guiton throwing a 24-yard pass. San Diego State avoided the shutout with a two-yard touchdown pass, but the Aztec offense was limited to 64 rushing yards.
