WTF?!?! 3rd place this week after being tied for first?!?! Grrr...only two weeks left in the regular season, this is not looking good. Need a solid 5-1 or 6-0 week this week to have any chance of climbing back up into first place. Here goes nothing...
Ohio State def. Michigan: Is this even a rivalry anymore?!?! The Michigan football team is a dumpster fire and then some, and Big Daddy Hoke will be unemployed within the next few weeks (presuming the Wolverines don't make a bowl game). They lost to Maryland at home for Pete's Sake. Take Ohio State, with the points, and thank me on Monday morning when you're enjoying a nice steak dinner next weekend.
Alabama def. Auburn: Yes it would help Ohio State if the Crimson Tide were to lose, but, not in this game, unfortunately. Perhaps the SEC Championship Game, but not on Saturday. Roll damn Tide!
Mississippi St. def. Ole Miss: The birth and the history of the "Golden Egg" Trophy is quite an interesting one. The most interesting fact of the rivalry, and the actual incident that led to the creation of the Golden Egg Trophy (according to Wikipedia): "Irate Aggie supporters took after the ambitious Ole Miss group with cane bottom chairs, and fights broke out. The mayhem continued until most of the chairs were splintered." Fun times in Mississippi!
Wisconsin def. Minnesota: Minnesota burned me last week, but versus an opponent that Wisconsin trounced a few weeks ago. It'd be a much closer game if Minnesota RB Cobb was at full strength, and impending doom of "Jump Around" at the end of the 3rd quarter doesn't help. The Golden Gophers give the Badgers a game, but Gordon takes over in the 4th quarter and the Badgers win by at least a TD.
Oregon def. Oregon State: A somewhat underrated rivalry weekend game. Oregon State is usually good for 1-2 big upsets a season (sometimes at the expense of Oregon), but they've already had their one vs. Arizona State (thanks Beavers for that one), even though the game is in Corvallis, the Mighty Ducks have too much talent for the Rabid Beavers. The Beavs keep it close for 2 1/2 quarters, but the Quackers pull away in the 4th quarter. Mark this game down as Funtik the Hog's Clairvoyant Snout Bucket Rummage Pick of the Week #14 (8-5 record in such games thus far; good, but not great).
UAB def. Southern Miss.: Does a Conference USA game REALLY qualify as an oddball game? I guess any game involving two non-power conference teams qualifies, but, I think the Moderator is stretching a bit here with the definition of an "oddball" game.
