What is Happening at Michigan?

With a change in coaches, there are always a number of players that leave. I did not make much of the news that QB Mallett left Michigan, because his type of play, pocket passer, would not fit into the mobile QB system Rodriguez plans to use. Although with the recent departure of three offensive linemen, especially Pickerington native Justin Boren, I am starting to wonder if there is some bad blood between the new coaching staff and the players recruited by Carr. Boren is leaving Michigan after being a starter on the o-line for Michigan as a sophomore last season. His dad has indicated that he will likely go to Ohio State, but under Big Ten rules he would not be eligible for an athletic scholarship because it was a transfer within the conference, and based on NCAA rules he would sit out a year and have two years of eligibility left. In response to the players leaving Coach Rod said, "I only talk about the guys who play for Michigan."

Below is a statement from Boren.

"I regret leaving behind my (Michigan) friends and teammates, but I need to stand up for what I know is right.

"I wore the winged helmet with pride, whether we won or lost, whether things were going well or times were tough. Michigan football was a family, built on mutual respect and support for each other from Coach (Lloyd) Carr on down. We knew it took the entire family, a team effort, and we all worked together.

"I have great trouble accepting that those family values have eroded in just a few months. That same helmet, that I was raised on and proudly claimed for the last two years, now brings a completely different emotion to me, one that interferes with practicing and playing my best and mentally preparing for what is required. …

"I wish my teammates the best and will always be proud to have been a part of Michigan football over the past two years."

OSU to play Tennessee in Football 2018 and 2019

It was announced this morning that Ohio State will play at Tennessee in 2018 and the teams will meet in Columbus in 2019.

It was announced last week, but I didn't put it up, OSU will play Cincinnati in Columbus in 2012 and 2014. The game in 2012 was originally planned to be played at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati, but OSU exercised an option in the contract, increasing the payout and moving it to Columbus.

Take that Michigan!

Pryor is a Buckeye

Ok, so it has been a LONG time since I have updated the blog, due to law school. I really feel bad for my lack of posts regarding the basketball team. I blame the time constraints of school, and the lack of basketball games available to me on TV (always fun to take a jab at the Big Ten Network.) Although I have not posted any info about recruiting, as I usually don't get took excited about players until they are a 1-2 years in the system. I have followed the Terrelle Pryor story closely, and even though it was not posted on my blog, my friends can attest that I was confident Pryor would attend OSU, even after he did not sign on the first day. People forget that he is a basketball player as well, and his team was on the way to a state championship, so it is perfectly understandable that he needed to wait to make a decision. I am putting up a post today to taunt Michigan fans (if they even read my blog.) Michigan and Coach Rodriguez were pushing hard for Pryor, but they failed. I want Michigan fans to know that this will not be last failure by Coach "Rod." I can't guarantee the success Tressel had against Carr will be seen in the Tressel v. Rodriguez era, but I believe we will have a winning record against "Rod." When looking at the rivalry I always go back to the line Tressel said to the fans, including me, at the OSU/Michigan basketball game in 2001 when he was introduced as the coach, "I can assure you that you will be proud of your young people in the classroom, in the community and most especially in 310 days in Ann Arbor, Michigan." Tressel hasn't been perfect against Michigan, but close at 6-1, and for those keeping track at home, it has been 1579 days since Michigan beat Ohio State in football.
