The Series

OSU leads 6-1 in this series that dates back to the early days of Ohio State football. The teams played each year from 1891-1895 and didn't resume the series until 2001. Akron's only win was in 1894, a game that was played at the Ohio State Fair.

Last Time
OSU won the last contest in 2007, 20-2. The game did not start out well, as Beanie Wells was stuffed in the endzone for a safety early in first quarter. OSU only scored three points in the first half, off a FG by Pretorius. Early in the third quarter Pretorius hit another kick for three points. Although the offense was moving the ball, it struggled to score touchdowns, and it had a total of five turnovers. Beanie Wells racked up a total of 143 yards, after the safety in the first quarter. Boeckman threw the first touchdown halfway through the third quarter to Brandon Saine. Brian Robiskie caught the last touchdown a few minutes into the fourth quarter. The OSU defense carried the team, limiting Akron to three first downs, 69 yards of offense, and three rushing yards. Akron had 34 of those yards and two of the first downs in the first possession alone.
