Scouting the Nittany Lions

This Season
Penn State is 8-2 with loses only to Alabama (11-27) early in the season and last week to Nebraska (14-17.) Penn State has victories over Indiana St. (41-7), Temple (14-10), Eastern Michigan (34-6), Indiana (16-10),  Iowa (13-3), Purdue (23-18), Northwestern (34-24), and Illinois (10-7). Penn State averages 21 points/game, 162 rushing yards/game, and 195 passing yards/game. Penn State limits teams to 12.9 points/game, 119 rushing yards, and 167 passing yards.

Offense
Penn State has stated that they will avoid the two quarterback system this weekend and stick with Matt McGloin, who had two interceptions last year in Columbus. McGloin had split duties with Rob Bolden most of this season. McGloin has passed for 54% for 1386 yards, seven touchdowns, and three interceptions. Derek Moye leads the receivers with 592 yards and three touchdowns. Next in receiving yards are Justin Brown and Devon Smith. At running back is Silas Redd with 1059 yards and seven touchdowns. Redd led the nation with 703 rushing yards in October.

Defense

Leading in tackles is linebacker Gerald Hodges, who also has 4.5 sacks. The defensive line is anchored by senior co-captains Devon Still and junior Jordan Hill. Both players had ten tackles a piece in the Illinois game.
