Motivation for This Week
If Ohio State needs any more incentive to win this week, they need to look at the all-time NCAA leaders in victories, which lists Ohio State one game behind Penn State, who sits at #5 behind Michigan, Texas, Notre Dame, and Nebraska. Will Posey be enough of a distraction that Penn State doesn't load the box up against the run like most of OSU's recent opponents? It is senior day and Ohio State will need leadership from starting seniors Mike Adams, Mike Brewster, Boom Herron, Tyler Moeller, DeVier Posey (first game back), Solomon Thomas, J.B. Shugarts, and verbally from Andrew Sweat (likely on the sideline due to the concussion.) Hopefully we won't see senior Joe Bauserman playing any significant minutes on Saturday.
Troubles at Penn State
I won't even get into the troubles at Penn State, as I feel the media has covered the story quite extensively, although we have not witnessed Pulitzer Prize winning journalism. I don't pretend to be a journalist, this blog is merely a hobby, but I expect members of the media to do a better job investigating and covering a story. I won't single out any particular network by name, but I am thinking of one expensive sports network that uses a four letter acronym starting with "e" with an "n" at the end and an "sp" in the middle of the two letters.
What to Expect
This is a game where you will question whether you are witnessing two dominant defenses or two decent defenses with two bad offenses. That being said, Penn State needs a win to remain the leader in the Leaders division. Ohio State wants to play the role of spoiler and win out its games to have a shot at the Leaders division. Ohio State will limit Penn State to 175 yards passing and 150 rushing yards. Ohio State will get 140 passing yards and 200 rushing yards. Ohio State will win 17-13.
