Here are the games for the Guest Panel to consider this week. Below are the standings as well.
Funtik takes a one game lead at first, despite his busy schedule last week. There is a large group tied for second with an 8-4 record. Philly Cheese and Mel Kiper had big jumps due to 4-2 records. Both Philly Cheese, Mel Kiper, and SPAM were the only panelists to predict Northwestern's victory. The Iowa State victory was not predicted by most of the panel. The Nebraska loss was ugly for many reasons, and unfortunately it was a big zero for the entire panel.
Standings:
1. Funtik the Hog (9-3) (3-3 last week)
2. SPAM (8-4) (2-4 last week)
2. Batman (8-4) (3-3 last week)

Wow. Last place in the rankings is a lonely place to be. Let's hope this week I can pull it together!
1. OSU - this should be the Buckeyes first reasonable challenge of the season.
2. Stanford - I'm going upset here!
3. Mich state - toss up but have to stick with big ten!
4. Tennessee- In honor of Kati.
5. Toledo - battle of I75
6. Montana -
Ohio State beats this I-AA wannabe, 42-14. Was on Berkeley's campus this past summer. Walked past 1,385 students, and none seemed the type to give a damn about football.
USC - speaking of apathetic student bodies, Stanford has to have a sImilar vibe. They can work on their engineering projects and creating world peace this Saturday night: this own won't be close.
Michigan St. - how did OSU let Laveon (or however it is spelled...) Bell escape Franklin County? A potentially terrific game. I am still high on the mSU defense, which will spell the difference.
Even if some of their D-linemen can't spell...
Tennessee - I have taught high school for 23+ years, and the answer to #10 on every test has been 'C'. Think about it...
Toledo - not that this is OSU-Michigan, but why is this game three of the season???
Montana - Give me Liberty, or give me a 2500-mile plane ride. Gotta take the team from Missoula
Ohio State, 42-14
USC
Michigan St.
Tennessee
Toledo
Montana
OLD BAG OF MAN IN A MULTI PERSON TIE FOR SECOND. I'LL TAKE IT.
1) OSU. THEY NEED ROGERS AND HIS DISCOUNT DOUBLE CHECK.
2) USC. BETTER GAME LAST YEAR.
3) MSU. BOTH TEAMS HAVEN'T SHOWN MUCH. I JUST HATE NOTRE DAME.
4) FLORIDA. SORRY KATIE BUT I'M NOT SOLD ON TENNESSEE.
5) TOLEDO. DON'T TELL MY WIFE (BGSU GRAD)
6) MONTANA. GO FIGHTING TED KACZYNSKI'S (NOT SURE IF I SPELLED THAT RIGHT).

Recovering from last week's nightmare...
1. Ohio State
2. USC
3. Michigan St.
4. Tennessee
5. Toledo
And the oddball game this week is:
6. Montana
Desperate for a 6-0 week...
The hardest picks were Tennessee and Montana. I went with Tennessee because I am not a believer in Florida. Ever since Tim Tebow (my favorite football player of all time) left, they have not been an elite team, in my opinion. I think Tennessee is hungry for a victory in this series.
Montana vs Liberty is a game I could obtain zero information about.
Some quick observations from some of the football action I watched last week.
Penn State is in trouble...I see them losing to Navy. Futnik, in honor of your pick of the week, I am making this "The Dark Knight's Absolute Stone Cold Lock Pick of Week #3." Go with the points and Navy.
OSU struggled a bit against a pesky Central Florida team but prevailed. I see a team heavily dependent on Miller to do a lot of the work. A big ten team with a game plan to shut him down may really hurt OSU in a few weeks.
Thought of the week:
Love is a choice, not a feeling.
Black Widow is going with the home teams on nearly all of her picks:
1. Ohio State over Cal
2. USC over Stanford: as much as I would like to see Kiffin's team falter, I'm not sure Stanford will be able to pull off the upset. My sources say USC will lose this year though.
3. Michigan St. over ND
4. Tennessee over Florida: Normally this game looks like this: Florida plays better than they do all season while Tennessee trips over itself, suffers injuries and allows Florida to bully it into thinking that they are actually a good team. This year, Tennessee's impressive receiving corps will give Florida fits and Tennessee will FINALLY have the confidence to take down this SEC East foe for the first time in 8 years. P.S. Screw you Fowler!
5. Toledo over BG: BG did not necessarily look impressive in Gainesville a few weeks ago, instead Florida looked horrible. Like their MAC rivals before them (Miami), BG could not capitalize on Florida's numerous misques. In this rivalry game, I believe the home-team Rockets will come out on top.
6. Montana over Liberty: home team it is.
Hudy The Dark Knight Picks:
Games for this week:
1. California vs. Ohio State - OSU
2. USC vs. Stanford - USC
3. Notre Dame vs. Michigan St. - MSU
4. Florida vs. Tennessee - Tennessee
5. Bowling Green vs. Toledo - TOledo
And the oddball game this week is:
6. Liberty vs. Montana - Montana
BIG DOG Weekly (weakly) Picks!!
Game pixx for this week:
1. California vs. Ohio State
OSU rocks and rollz!
2. USC vs. Stanford
The trojans will win, if nothing more than for the outfits of the cheerleaders.
3. Notre Dame vs. Michigan St.
Meechegan State will be the vikter here.
4. Florida vs. Tennessee
Tennessee orange will rule in this contest.
5. Bowling Green vs. Toledo
BGSU, ut-sucks!
And the oddball game this week is:
6. Liberty vs. Montana
I say liberty......or death.
The Hair finally chimes in with some analytical rigour – fresh off a weekend of attending Funtik’s wedding…
Braxton Miller defeats CAL
Stanford defeats USC
Michigan State defeats Notre Dame
Florida defeats Tennessee
Toledo defeats Bowling Green
Montana defeats Liberty
So Funtik the Hog returns from his wedding weekend o’ fun to find himself in first place in Guest Panel standings by himself! I’m not sure what’s more significant – there now being a Mrs. Funtik the Hog, or the first place achievement. Time will tell which “achievement” lasts longer. I won’t go into what the betting line is on such a wager, but, let’s just say that Las Vegas has anointed a favorite.
Now, onto this week’s picks…
Ohio State def. California: I have yet to watch more than five total minutes of the first two Ohio State games, but, from what I’ve read and the highlights that I’ve seen, I have to think that the “Pope” probably isn’t 100% pleased with the team’s effort thus far, especially the two lost fumbles and 10 penalties last Saturday. I really don’t think that Braxton & Co. will have much trouble with Cal, but, the mistakes must be eliminated (or at the very least, lessened) if the team has any hope of doing anything of significance this lesson. On talent alone, Ohio State should win this game by 30-45points.
USC def. Stanford: I think that USC is a team with something to prove this season; what it is, I’m not entirely sure (and I still think they’re a small notch below the best of the SEC, i.e. Alabama and LSU), but, they should be able to handle Stanford on the road without much trouble. At a neutral site, Las Vegas has the Trojans getting almost two touchdowns. Take the Trojans, and the points, in Funtik the Hog’s “Clairvoyant Snout Bucket Rummage” Pick of the Week for Week #3 (2-0 record thus far).
Michigan St. def. Notre Dame: Funtik doesn’t think this game will really even be close. Everyone loves to jump on the Fightin’ Irish bandwagon when they beat up on Navy and other lesser opponents to start the season, and then when they start playing the Big 10 and Pac-12 opponents, they wallow into mediocrity and end up playing in the Meineke Car Care Bowl or something. Expect the Spartans to win by at least 10 points, as they continue to prepare for glory.
Tennessee def. Florida: Toughest game of the week to pick. We don’t really know much about either team, other than Tennessee can toss the ball around with the best of them, and Florida has a pretty good defense. How do either of those facts help in picking the winner of this game? Beats the heck out of me, but I’ll go with the team that actually looks like it can put a few points on the board versus the one that struggles to get out of its own way most times.
Toledo def. Bowling Green: Shockingly enough, this isn’t the oddball game for this week. Hmmm…strange things ‘a brewin’ in the Moderator household, hmmm…On an unrelated note, did anyone else notice that Toledo’s home stadium is called the Glass Bowl? There are definitely odder and funnier D-1 football stadium names, but this one is up there.
Montana def. Liberty: A bunch of backwoods lumberjacks versus Jerry Falwell’s (or is it Pat Robertson? I always get the two confused…they’re pretty much the same person, anyways), school. I’ll go with the intimidating flannel-shirt wearers wielding axes versus the Bible thumpers.
