Ohio State won its homecoming game over Rutgers with a final score of 56-17. Ohio State scored twice in the first quarter with a touchdown pass to Nick Vannett and touchdown run by Ezekiel Elliott. Rutgers scored once in the first quarter, a touchdown run. Ohio State controlled the second quarter with three touchdowns, Nick Vannett had one touchdown reception, Eli Apple recovered a fumble and ran it four yards for a touchdown, and Rod Smith had a touchdown run. Ohio State led at halftime with a score of 35-7. Ohio State continued its dominance into the third quarter with two touchdown runs by J.T. Barrett. Rutgers finally had a 42-yard field goal halfway through the third quarter. Ohio State scored its last touchdown with a touchdown pass to Evan Spencer. Rutgers scored the last points of the game early in the fourth quarter with a touchdown run. Ohio State ran the ball for 324 yards, including 107 yards by Barrett. Ohio State passed for 261 yards and three touchdowns.
