8 comments:
1. Michigan State vs. OSU
W-OSU: Is it just me or does this season smell like the 2002 Championship season?
2. Florida vs. Kentucky
W-Florida: This is a tough one to call. Kentucky probably partied too hard after their upset of LSU last weekend. They'll be rusty.
3. Michigan vs. Illinois
W-Michigan: Michigan will go undefeated in the Big Ten....until they meet OSU on Nov 17th.
4. Texas Tech vs. Missouri
W-Missouri: Random picks have been kind to me this season.
5. Nevada vs. Utah State
W-Utah State: If I could list the top 5 states that I tend to forget about, Utah would be #3.
Batman:
After another abysmal week of picking...
Ohio State over MSU. I think OSU can stay focused for one more week, but the games get tougher. No one predicted that this team would get to the national championship so we should try to channel all the hype.
Florida over Kentucky. Sometimes these Saturday night "set up" games work out for the home team. Sometimes they backfire (OSU @ Purdue). Last week it worked for Kentucky, but this game is at 3:30 so it doesn't have that unusual night feel. Florida is a pretty good team that plays in a hard conference, we shouldn't forget that.
I am picking Michigan, but it wouldn't surprise me if Illinois wins. Illinois is a team on the rise. They dropped a goose egg at Iowa last week but could have easily won had they not thrown an interception at the goal line on second down. I will be rooting hard for Illinois to win.
Missouri and Nevada to round out the picks.
Props this week to: the Dalai Lama, Walter Alexander, Charles Cashmore, Paul Byrd, Casey Blake.
OSU def. Michigan State - As is always the question, which version of the Spartans will show up on Saturday?
Florida def. Kentucky - Lightning doesn't strike twice for the Wildcats.
Illinois def. Michigan - With a shaky secondary, a banged up RB, and an already crazy football season, I can make this pick with a completely straight face.
Missouri def. Texas Tech - Must be a slow Saturday...
Nevada def. Utah State - DBC is out of the basement
Pat Head
1. OSU
2. Florida, UK will not win this one!
2. Michigan
4. Texas Tech

OSU
Florida
Michigan
Missouri

Man Getting Hit by Football
OSU def. MSU: The Buckeyes will roll in this game (albeit a repeat of 1998 is never far off in OSU fans' heads), but, in the battle of better team nicknames, the Spartans definitely take the prize. Ever since that "300" movie, I've wanted to be a Spartan soldier, and, playing for the MSU football team is probably the closest thing you can get to such an experience.
Florida def. Kentucky: Methinks that "Pope" Urban Meyer doesn't allow his boys to lose 3 straight SEC games. If that were to happen, I'm sure the "Johnny Come Lately/What Have You Done for Me Lately" Florida fans will quickly forget that he delivered them a national championship only 10 months ago and be calling for his head.
Michigan def. Illinois: Illinois is a team on the rise, but they're not quite ready to challenge OSU and Michigan for Big Ten supremacy quite yet. And where do you get a nickname like "Juice" anyways? The guy really likes to drink orange juice or something? Joe, can you research this question for us?
Mizzou def. TX Tech: Should be a pretty entertaining game, although the defensive players for each team should probably stay on the team bus, because they likely won't be putting in much effort in this game...#1 and #6 ranked offenses in the country. Call China, because we're going to be seeing some major fireworks!
Nevada def. Utah State: Did anyone even know that these two schools actually played Division I football? If so, you win a prize. And by prize, I mean a cookie.
1. OSU
2. Florida
2. Michigan
4. Texas Tech
5. Nevada
Dr. Funkenstein says:
1. Ohio State over Michigan State - Not sure if good Michigan State or bad Michigan State will show up, but we should beat them both.
2. Florida over Kentucky - I never liked the blue Kool Aid.
3. Michigan over Illinois - Unlike most seasons, I am now pulling for M*ch*g*n to lose as many games as possible. Unfortunately, I don't think they will.
4. Missouri over Texas Tech - Whatever.
5. Nevada over Utah State - Nevada's coming off of back-to-back nail biting losses. Utah State sucks. The end.
