Hudy Delights picks for Week 1. Hoping for a big season and to recover from last years disappointment.
1) Ohio St over Marshall

1. OSU - Thursday night game? That makes for a rough Friday morning at work...
2. Boise state - this jury is still out.
3. LSU - this early in the season I'm just making random guesses...
4. Oregon state - went to Oregon for the first time a few months ago and what a beautiful place. What that has to do with the football game, I don't know.
5. Pitt - not sure about this one. Maybe I should look at a preseason poll when making these selections. Maybe it will help me with #6.
6. Iowa state - ok. Preseason poll, check. Why weren't either of these teams listed?
Old Bag of Man picks his nose and makes these picks:
1) OSU. Even with Matthew McConahey as there coach Marshall does not stand a chance.
2) Va Tech. With or without punches being thrown we can't have Boise St. with a big win in week one.
3) Football or B-ball? LSU wins.
4) TCU wins.
5) Johnny Utah wins.
6) Didn't Northen Illinois almost beat us one year? I'll go with them.
1. Ohio State over Marshall - The Buckeyes may rush for 500 yards in this game.
2. Virginia Tech over Boise State - Boise State has built a reputation in the last several years on getting up for big games when they're in the spotlight, but I like the Hokies in week 1.
3. LSU over North Carolina - Until further notice, I will continue to assume that all teams from North Carolina suck.
4. TCU over Oregon State - I understand the letdown for TCU in the bowl last year, but I think they'll rebound.
5. Utah over Pitt - Pitt seems to have passed many-time champ Clemson for the title of "Inexplicably Overrated Team" for 2010.
6. Northern Illinois over Iowa State - Through all of the conference realignment talks, Iowa State was one of the few Big XII teams that was never even mentioned--not a coincidence.
Let the games begin! Buckeye Cock is on full alert this week and is a little surprised by how tough the first week is looking. It's go time!
1. Ohio State - How weird will it be to pick the Ohio State-Michigan winner at this time of year? For real, Jim Delaney is about to get a "cock drop." Ohio State takes care of business in preparation for Miami. Shout out to Harry Chance for hooking me up with tix.
2. Boise State - I don't want to pick this team to win but they have everybody coming back. EVERYBODY! No one graduated, no one went pro, at least on offense. VA Tech has a history of losing games like this: LSU, Alabama.
3. LSU - Another interesting one. Is this game at UNC? The defense will put on a show in this one.
4. TCU - Is Oregon State supposed to be good this year? If it's not in Oregon, probably not.
5. Utah - What conference are they in again? The MAC??
6. Iowa State - In preperation for the big Iowa loss later this season.

I am back to defend my title as the overall winner of last season’s picks.
1. OSU over Marshall – can’t wait for the game Thursday!
2. Virginia Tech over Boise State – I think I may be wrong on this pick, but I think Boise plays better when they are the underdogs. Since they are the higher ranked team and are predicted to win, I think they may have some trouble when they travel to Blacksburg this week. Although, I tend to pick wrong for VT, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Boise wins.
3. LSU over North Carolina – I hope the SEC can start the season off with a win over the ACC.
4. TCU over Oregon State – The Horned Frogs always seem to do well.
5. Utah Utes over Pitt – I hate to pick another Mountain West team to win, but I’m gonna.
6. Iowa State over Northern Illinois
OSU pancakes Marshall - Not sure how ‘opened-up’ this Pryor offense will get in this one. Don’t really care….football season is here! Looking forward to driving directly into game-day traffic after work on the way home.
Virginia Tech chokes Boise St. – A BSU team from the WAC/MWC will not make a good case for their ranking. This will be a Beamer shutdown.
LSU tar and feathers North Carolina - Losing a potential 9 starters, most on defense, does not bode well for UNC. Would have picked different two weeks ago!
TCU whips Oregon State – When in Rome….Pick the Romans. I think Gary Patterson will have his boys ready to make their BCS bid.
Pitt beats Utah – First road victory of the pickem-season
Northern Illinois quiets Iowa State – MAC over a Big 12 (10?) team. Insider info tells me the Cyclones will be missing a key player which will tip the scales in this one. Side Note: MKH has actually stepped foot in Cyclone Stadium during a job recruiting fair in January a few years ago. If this game were played at those temperatures there would be no score, because nobody would be there.

I feel pretty certain about OSU and TCU, but the other games are really tough to decide.
I went with Boise State because of their ranking and hype. Plus it is technically being played at a neutral site in Maryland.
I went with North Carolina because it is a home night contest. Those frequently favor the home team. Plus North Carolina has had some off-the-field issues that sometimes teams rally around.

Boise St. def. Virginia Tech: All loyal readers/followers of Joey's Buckeye Pregame/my fellow Guest Panelists ALL know of Carl's fandom and allegiance to the Hokies. Well, Carl is going against his fandom and allegiance and going with his mind here on this one (not to mention Carl's former incarnation, Andy Katzenmoyer's Professor/Professor Bad A**/The Professor got royally screwed over when he picked VTech over Alabama in the Hokies' big out of conference preseason game last season. We all know what happened with Alabama last season. Via that logic, expect Boise State to win the national title this season.
LSU def. North Carolina: The Tar Heels are going to be so low on eligible players, they're going to suit up the cheerleaders and that dumb ram mascot they have.
TCU def. Oregon State: Carl is resisting the urge to make an inappropriate comment here (and believe you me, it goes against EVERYTHING in his being and creation not to do so), but, seeing as it's a family website, he'll just say that the Horned Frogs will defeat the Beavers.
Pittsburgh def. Utah: I don't know and don't care what a "Ute" is, but I know that Panthers are damn sexy. Whoops, I meant to say that Cougars are damn sexy. Regardless, the damn sexy Pittsburgh Panthers will beat the I don't know and don't care what the heck they are Utah Utes.
Northern Illinois def. Iowa State: Huskies are WAY cooler than Cyclones. Man's best friend vs. 150 mph winds that destroy your mobile home?!?! I'll take the dog all day, every day.
