Mel's rebound week was all but perfect - if only the Dogs had acquiesced...

On to the present...

Ohio State beats California - let's see if the Bucks can get a win out west!

Nebraska beats UCLA - (not a good day for west coast teams)

Iowa beats Iowa St.

Penn St. beats UCF - Mel's classless thought of the season...UCF = 'Under-age Child...'

Alabama beats Texas A&M - Poor Johnny Football - week 3 & already the villian

South Florida beats Florida Atlantic - odds are good there's a bingo game going off in the sunshine state that might bring higher ratings

OLD BAG OF MAN HAD A ROUGH WEEK. TIME TO TURN IT AROUND.

1) OSU. EVEN WITH KENNY G. THIS TEAM IS BETTER THAN ANY TEAM THEY PLAY THIS YEAR.

2) NEBRASKA. BO PELINI WILL BREAK SOMEONE IF THEY DON'T WIN THIS GAME.

3) IOWA. TOUGH ONE TO CALL.

4) PSU.

5) BAMA. IN A PERFECT WORLD, BAMA WOULD LOSE AND JOHNNY FOOTBALL GETS THE YOU KNOW WHAT KICKED OUT OF HIM.

6) SOUTH FLORIDA. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

Ohio State 49-34. Reminiscent of the IU game last season

Nebraska - Payback time, if the Huskers have any cojones

Iowa - based on being undefeated vs. FCS competition this year.

Penn St. - This guy continues to do a great job on the sidelines in Happy Valley

Alabama - Manziel's year of living carefree catches up to him and the Aggies.

South Florida - staring at an 0-4 start with Miami looming next, USF gets a W

Now that I have climbed to the top of the standings like the seaside cliffs of Acapulco, watch in amazement as a perform a full twist double gainer into a cannonball back down to mediocrity.

1. Ohio State - I already predicted big things for Smooth Jazz Kenny G last week. Look for more of the same as the Buckeyes leave Ohio for the first time this season.
2. UCLA - I like to see these B1G/Pac12 matchups in the regular season. It's odd for the Rose Bowl to pair the two conferences if they never see each other otherwise.
3. Iowa State - Yikes, both teams had an ugly loss to a MAC school with "Northern" in the name in week one. I'll take the Cykes at home. (Note: My friend from ISU has approved my abbreviation of Cyclones to Cykes, though disappointingly they use neither Cykes nor Clones.)
4. Penn State - The Lions have done well so far this season, all the more impressive as we get deeper into the scholarship ban.
5. Alabama - I am still amazed by the 1/2 game suspension for Johnny Football. The NCAA certainly has done a number of laughable things, but that one is way up on the list.
6. Florida Atlantic - Neither team has even been competitive through 2 games. Someone has to win, though.

Spamsandwichsan says… man, sucks to be on the wrong side of a gamecock! And to Cliff Diving Raoul… the prostitute buying booster from Miami must have moved on to bigger and better programs… like Oklahoma State!

1. Ohio State over California - let’s hope we progress to at least three quarters of good football this game!

2. UCLA over Nebraska

3. Iowa over Iowa St. - even the worst big ten teams should be able to beat schools that loose to MVC teams!

4. Penn St. over UCF - i hope an actual mountain lion hears that shitty cat screech mating call used in the stadium and shows up looking for some love!

5. Alabama over Texas A&M - let’s see johnny cool play against a real defense that will punch him in the face after he makes a stupid signature gesture!

6. South Florida over Florida Atlantic - usf… bad. fau… bad. this pick is a worse than a crap shoot… what’s more interesting is games are available for $3 on stub-hub but usf probably doesn’t even charge admission to their games!

Batman

1. Ohio State
2. Nebraska

3. Iowa St.

4. Penn St.

5. Alabama

6. South Florida

I've never seen such early separation in the standings.

Kirk Ferentz should have left Iowa when he was on top.

Funtik Part 1 of 2

An off-week for big bad Funtik in Week #2 of the Guest Panel. That's what I get for following the recommendations/picks from the writers of the ESPN CFB Nation website. Bunch of bums...

Before we get into this week's picks, it is time to announce Funtik the Hog's College Football Man Crush of 2013. Now, the obvious and easy choice this year would be Jadeveon "Man Child" Clowney. One need no further than his now (in)famous de-helmeting of the Michigan RB in the 2013 Outback Bowl for proof of his worthiness as the Funtik the Hog College Football Man Crush of 2013. Based on that hit alone, he is more than worthy of such an honor. But Funtik has never been about obvious and easy (well, at least when it comes to his College Football Man Crushes...other things in life, well...it's a family website, so I'll just leave it at that). Another worthy choice would be Johnny "Football" Manziel, just based on his nickname alone. But every time Funtik sees his mug on ESPN (which is about every 10 minutes), he wants to throw his TV into his snout bucket. With that said, drumroll please...Funtik the Hog's College Football Man Crush of the Year is...Walker "Fudge" Van Hooser, wide receiver for the Tulane Green Wave. Perhaps Fudge isn't the most obvious choice for such an honor, but two factors made him the dark horse, and ultimately, the one and only choice: (1) his nickname; come on, "Fudge" is a vastly superior nickname to "Johnny Football," "Munchie" (as in Munchie Legaux, QB for Cincinnati), or any other college football player nickname out there; (2) look at his official player photo on the Tulane University website:
http://www.tulanegreenwave.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/fudge_van_hooser_793471.html
If that's not a college football man crush right there, I don't know what it is.

Fudge, if and when you see this posting, please feel free to contact me to receive your certificate minting your status as Funtik the Hog's College Football Man Crush of 2013.

Now, onto this week's picks...

Ohio State def. California: It's a small world after all incident #57 - Funtik actually randomly met a fellow Buckeye alumnus on Monday night who will be attending this game out in Berkeley on Saturday. Methinks that she will be treated to a win, albeit a close one. For the degenerate gamblers out there, take Cal with the points. Enjoy the game Courtney and have a good time out in San Fran! I know I'm taking the easy way out, but mark this game down as Funtik the Hog's Clairvoyant Snout Bucket Rummage Pick of the Week #3 (1-1 record in such games in 2013; my sincere apologies to my devoted and loyal readers for last's shortsighted pick of Cincinnati over Illinois).

Funtik Part 2 of 2

UCLA def. Nebraska: REALLY tough game to pick. Part of me wants to pick Nebraska, playing at home and seeking revenge for last year's loss. But with a young untested defense going against a potential Heisman Trophy candidate in Bruins QB Hundley. That, and Nebraska's inability to win any manner of "big game" in the past few seasons makes me go with the Bruins.

Iowa def. Iowa St.: Does anyone outside the state of Iowa care about this game? BTW, anyone remember when Iowa was really good and going to New Year's Day bowl games on the regular? I don't remember much of the mid 2000s either, it's okay.

Penn St. def. UCF: The PSU football team goes to the amazing Penn State Creamery for celebratory ice cream sundaes after their victory over the Golden Knights.

Alabama def. Texas A&M: Upon learning that he finished a close second to Fudge Van Hooser for the title of Funtik the Hog's College Football Man Crush of 2013, Johnny Football Manziel is utterly devastated, and goes out and throws 3 INTs, fumbles once, and plays the worst game of his career vs. the Crimson Tide. He then proceeds to go sign some more "complimentary" autographs and gets kicked out of Sig Ep frat party.

South Florida def. Florida Atlantic: Yikes...you'd have to pay me to watch this game. A 53-21 loss to McNeese State at home?!?! Come on South Florida, you're better than that. Weren't they ranked #2 in the nation like five years ago?!?! How the (once) mighty have fallen. Picking the Bulls based solely on home field advantage (if that even exists in this game).
