Scrimmage Notes and Injury

The defense plays the offense in an annual event called the Jersey Scrimmage. The winning team gets bragging rights and they will wear the scarlet jersey during practices. The defense won in the spring and they won again yesterday. It rained heavily during the three hour event. The defense had a commanding lead after intercepting a number of gray's passes. Gray did rally and had it tied at 65, with one play remaining. Gray had the ball inside the five. They sent four receivers out and Smith's pass to the middle was batted down by Brandon Mitchell, giving the scarlet defense the win, 66-65.

Chris Beanie Wells was the leading rusher with 100 yards on 23 carries.

Justin Zwick was injured during the scrimmage. While scrambling for a fumble, Zwick was hit by LB John Kerr. He suffered a left shoulder injury. It appears he is still fighting for his place as backup to Smith, and this certainly won't help. Smith was the only QB allowed to wear the black "no contact" jersey.
