OSU vs. Iowa Preview Part 3

OSU vs. Iowa, September 30, 8:13 PM, ABC

What To Expect
I think Iowa will have a hard time matching up with the receivers at OSU. I say this, despite the fact that Iowa leads the Big Ten in limiting teams to 46.8% pass completion. I don't think this unit has been tested yet. Look for OSU to go to the air early. On paper it appears Iowa stops the run, only allowing 93 yards on average. However, if you take a closer look, those stats are deceiving considering Montana only had 10 yards. Iowa State had 171 yards and even Illinois was able to get 121 yards. OSU should have no trouble running the ball. Look for the Hawkeye linebackers to be confused, expecting Troy Smith the run, since he torched them for over 100 yards last year, and instead he will pass. Do you remember how Texas did not scout Troy Smith correctly? As long as OSU keeps Drew Tate in line, they should be able to win this one. The night atmosphere and Iowa crowd will be factors, but they won't be enough to give the Hawkeyes the win. For what it is worth Iowa lost its only other 7 PM (CDT) start game in Kinnick Stadium to Miami (FL) in 1992. who was ranked #1 at the time. Iowa is 0-7-1 against teams ranked #1.
