Key Games for Florida
 
Tennessee
Florida had its first test of the season at Tennessee. The Volunteers took a 17-7 lead early in the second half. Florida Quarterback Chris Leak led a 72-yard drive that resulted in touchdown. Tennessee was able to hit a 51-yard field goal, to put their lead at 20-14. The Gators benefiing by good field position, drove down the field. On fourth-and-one, freshman quarterback Tim Tebow ran up the middle for the first down. Two plays later Leak hit Baker for a 21-yard touchdown pass to tie the game. Tennessee was forced to go for it on 4th and 16 near the 50-yard line. Florida sealed the victory when they intercepted Erik Aigne's pass. The final score was 21-20.
 
LSU
Florida held LSU to an early touchdown and a fourth quarter field goal. LSU could not get their offense going, as JaMarcus Russell threw three interceptions and the team lost two fumbles. Florida Quarterback Chris Leak did not have a great game going 17 of 26 with no touchdowns and one interception. Freshman Quarterback had a brief put important role in the offense, going 2 for 2 in passing for two touchdowns. He also ran for 35 yards and one touchdown. Florida won 23-10.
 
Auburn
The Tigers never scored an offensive touchdown, yet they beat the #2 Gators 27-17. Auburn hit four field goals, returned a punt for a touchdown and returned an interception for a touchdown. Florida scored on a field goal, passing touchdown, safety and a rushing touchdown all in the first half, but they were unable to add any points in the second half. QB Leak struggled and went 9 of 17 for 108 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The Gators pressured the Auburn QB, totalling 5 sacks.
 
Georgia
The Gators benefited by five forced turnovers. Florida scored first, with receiver Andre Caldwell contributing 33 yards receiving and rushing, capped off with the touchdown run.
Caldwell caught the next touchdown, going 40 yards. Georgia was held to 81 yards in the first half. In the first possession of the second half, the Gators forced a fumble and ran it back, putting the score at 21-0. Leak threw an interception, and the Bulldogs took advantage of the good field position and scored on a 52-yard drive. Quarterback Chris Tebow fumbled the ball on Florida's 14 yard line, setting up an easy touchdown drive for Georgia. Florida was forced to punt in their next possession, but Georgia was unable to gain a first down after a sack and two incomplete passes. Florida ran out the clock with a 21-14 victory.
 
Vanderbilt
Florida beat Vanderbilt, to clinch the SEC East title. On the first possession, Florida blocked the punt and Leak ran in the ball on the second down from the four yard line. A bad snap forced the Florida holder to pass for a two point conversion, which was successful. The Commodores scored on the next drive, but they missed the two point conversion. With 12 minutes left in the half, Florida scored on a touchdown pass, putting the score at 15-6. The Gators blocked a punt and intercepted a ball on two different possessions, but they were unable to score, so the score stayed the same at halftime. Vanderbilt missed a field goal, and Chris Leak scored his second rushing touchdown of the day on the next possession. Florida hit a 29-yard field goal to put the lead at 25-6. In the fourth quarter the Commodores added six points, but missed the 2 point conversion. Late in the fourth they scored again, putting the score at 25-19. Florida recovered the onside kick and ran out the clock.
 
South Carolina
The Gamecocks scored the first touchdown of the game, towards the end of the first quarter. Florida did not tie the game until late in the second quarter, with a touchdown pass by Chris Leak. South Carolina had a field goal attempt blocked in the third quarter. Both teams hit field goals early in the fourth quarter, keeping it tied 10-10. On the next possession the Gamecocks scored a touchdown, but the extra point kick was blocked. Florida drove the ball down the field, with runs by Leak and Tebow. Tebow ran in the touchdown and the Gators hit the extra point to take the lead 17-16. Florida attempted a 48-yard field goal with 8 seconds left, but the Gators yet again were able to block the kick. The Gators won 17-16.
 
Arkansas
In the SEC title game, Florida, representing the East, played Arkansas from the Western Division. The Gators scored first, hitting a field goal. Florida blocked their 8th kick of the year, a punt by Arkansas near the endzone. Chris Leak ran nine yards for the touchdown. A few minutes later Leak passed for a touchdown. Arkansas finally got on the board with a 48-yard pass. The score was 17-7 at halftime. Arkansas tied it up with a pass by Heisman finalist running back McFadden. The Razorbacks took the lead by intercepting Chris Leak and running it back for a 40-yard touchdown. Late in the third quarter Arkansas fumbled a punt return and freshman Wondy Pierre-Louis landed on the ball in the endzone to give Florida back the lead. On the first play of the fourth quarter, freshman receiver Percy Harvin ran 67-yards for a touchdown, putting the score at 31-21. Arkansas then scored with a pass by their wide receiver. Not to be outdone, Florida scored on a 80-yard drive, with a pass from receiver Andre Caldwell. The victory was sealed with two interceptions in the fourth quarter by Florida safety Reggie Nelson and cornerback Ryan Smith. The Gators won the SEC title game 38-28.
