Torrence to split duties

Incoming freshman Devon Torrence from Canton South will split duties between professional baseball and college football. He was drafted earlier this month by the Houston Astros. He will report this week to the class-A minor league team in Greenville, Tennessee and will start at OSU in August. He will miss baseball spring training and part of the baseball season as he finishes spring quarter at Ohio State in early June. He could repeat this schedule for his second year, unless he decides to stay in one sport. The NCAA allows players to play professionally in one sport, while maintaining amateur status in another sport.
