11 comments:
1. Penn State vs. Ohio State
W-OSU: Pryor will own the Penn State defense and will be the difference in this game. He may even make an appearance in the Heisman rankings after this game.
2. Oklahoma State vs. Texas
W-Texas: Holy COW Texas is good. Pun intended.
3. Georgia vs. LSU
W-LSU: YES WE CAN!
4. Virginia Tech vs. Florida State
W-Virginia Tech: I would honestly vote for Tina Fey over Sarah Palin.
5. Illinois vs. Wisconsin
W-Wisconsin: Look for Winsconsin to win big in an attempt to remake a name for themselves with what is left in the season.
And the oddball game this week is:
6. Kent State vs. Miami (not Florida)
W-Miami: Who watches MAC football games anyway?
TEAM BIG DOG
Games for this week:
1. Penn State vs. Ohio State
BUCKEYES WIN, JoePa remains winless at 'The SHOE'!
2. Oklahoma State vs. Texas
TEXAS WINS, Texas is on a HUGE ROLL!
3. Georgia vs. LSU
BULLDOGS WIN, LSU can't stop the dawgs.
4. Virginia Tech vs. Florida State
VIRGINIA TECH WINS, had to flip a coin on this ine!
5. Illinois vs. Wisconsin
WISCONSIN WINS, rebound game for the Badgers.
And the oddball game this week is:
6. Kent State vs. Miami (not Florida)
MIAMI WINS, apprently the battle of the losers (2 wins total for both teams!)!
OLD BAG OF MAN STATES:
1) OSU. TOO BAD PATERNO WILL BE IN THE BOOTH AND WE WON'T GET TO SEE THE PRE-HALFTIME POOP RUN.
2) TEXAS. THIS OSU DOESN'T HAVE A QB WITH A COOL NAME LIKE COLT.
3) GEORGIA. STILL NOT BELIEVING IN LES MILES LSU TEAM THIS YEAR.
4) VA TECH. IS BOWDEN STILL WEARING TRENDY OAKLEY'S FROM 1998?
5) ILLINOIS. WISCONSIN'S WAGON WHEELS HAVE ALREADY FALLEN OFF.
6) KENT STATE. FLASHES OVER ABERCROMBIE U.
Hudy Delights
OSU over PSU - Penn State has never won in Columbus and wont this weekend.
Texas over Ok State
LSU over Georgia
Va Tech over Fl. State
Illinois over Wisconsin
Kent Read, Kent Write, Kent State over Miami
Nostrapigskinus Forecasts:
Ohio State def. Penn State: 'Pigskinus is absolutely torn about this pick. PSU is ranked #3, 8-0, full steam ahead on their way to a likely BCS Championship Game berth. But, PSU hasn't won in the 'Shoe since 1978, the new whipping boy of the Big 10, Michigan, played them tough for a good 2 1/2 quarters last week, and the game is at night. Look for a close game throughout, with either Pryor, Beanie, or the defense to make a big play in crunch time to take the lead or preserve the win. Look at me, making "what to expect" predictions, just like Joey Neff! Watch out, I may be the new "Buckeye Pregame" blogger next season!
Texas def. OK State: OK State has three all-conference players at the most important positions on offense (QB, RB, and WR) in Robinson, Hunter, and Bryant. Texas has an all-world QB in McCoy, not to mention a run defense that could beat down LaDianian Tomlinson. Even after this game though, UT still has Texas Tech and Big 12 title game before a berth in the BCS Championship Game is granted. Something tells me they lose 1 game along the way somewhere.
Georgia def. LSU: This is not the national title LSU team of last season. When you only beat Miss. State by 10 in Death Valley, and lose by 30 at Florida, this is not the Bayou Bengals that we know and hate.
Virginia Tech def. Florida State: If there was ever a game that should be taken off the Vegas board, this is it. Both teams are not up to their usual standards of excellence this year, especially FSU. Who knows with this game though. I'll go with the Hokies because they've at least beaten two teams that have been ranked at some point this season (UNC and GaTech), a claim that the Seminoles cannot make. Plus, of course, lest we forget the Hokie Pokie. I'll go with the Techsters because of that too.
Illinois def. Wisconsin: I have lost all confidence in Wisconsin. How do you go from being ranked in the top 10 (when you're in a BCS conference), to being tied for last place in your conference in the span of a little over a month?! Explain this to me, Bret Bielema!!!! Juice Williams & Co. get the job done in Camp Randall. And what's with the red and white striped overalls there in Madison, huh? Joey, I know you're all busy and whatnot with law school and applying for summer jobs, the g/f, the home brewing, trial teams, etc., but, I assign this task to you as your next research project. This is your new priority #1.
Miami def. Kent State: I'm not going to make the obligatory Can't Read, Can't Write, Kent State joke here. But, I did learn an interesting college football tidbit while researching my pick for this game: the winner of the annual Akron-Kent State wins the coveted "Wagon Wheel." For more information about the Wagon Wheel game, please refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wagon_Wheel_(trophy). Doesn't have quite the same ring to it as Paul Bunyan's Ax or the Illibuck, does it?
Buckeye Cock says:
1. PSU - I have to stick to what I've been saying all along. I just don't see it here. I know it's at home, at night, and I will be screaming my lungs off, but they haven't one in Columbus since they've joined the Big 10. They will be motivated. Go Bucks!
2. OK State - I'm still not sold on Texas. I know they're playing at home -- again, but Gundy is a MAN. He's 40 -- or is it 41 now?
3. Georgia - LSU is overrated. Who is there qb again?
4. Florida State - This is an ACC free for all.
5. Illinois - Is Wisonsin playing at night again?
6. Miami (OH)
Out of room
Pat Head’s Picks:
1. Ohio State over Penn State: I can’t wait to see my Tennessee Vols in Neyland Stadium this weekend. Unfortunately, they are playing at the same time as OSU v. PSU. Needless to say, I owe Joe big time!
2. Texas over Oklahoma State: This could easily go the other way, but since it’s at Texas, I’m goin' with the Longhorns.
3. Georgia over LSU: Georgia hasn’t looked that great recently, but they definitely have more offensive weapons than LSU. I think the Bulldogs will pull this one out in a close match.
4. Virginia Tech over Florida State: The Hokies will beat the Noles at home. Since Joe Pa is going to lose on Saturday, Bowden must lose as well.
5. Illinois over Wisconsin: I really don’t got a clue on this one. Wisconsin has had a sorely disappointing season, while Illinois has struggled in their games.
And the oddball game this week:
6. Miami over Kent State: The sorority sisters will beat the hippies!
1. Ohio State over Penn State - Penn State may have more talent at this point in the season, but the Bucks are improving each week, and Penn State doesn't win at night in Columbus.
2. Texas over Oklahoma State - Ok, I am now sufficiently impressed with Texas.
3. LSU over Georgia - Georgia has been a bit overhyped, and LSU is still pretty good. That said, I'll take UGA at home.
4. Virginia Tech over Florida State - I still don't believe that the 'Noles are any good.
5. Illinois over Wisconsin - Not only have the wheels fallen off for Wisconsin, but the axle is stuck in a manhole and the brake pedal is glued to the floor. Wow. What happened?!
6. Miami over Kent State - I got nothin'.
Batman predicts:
PSU with "Spread HD"
Texas
LSU
Florida State
Illinois
Miami
Philly Cheese
Penn State
Texas
LSU
Virginia Tech
Illinois
Miami (not Florida)
spamsandwichsan says, don't touch the mustache!
1. Ohio State over Penn State - i'm puttin my money where the truss is! i think the NCAA has some conspiracy going on with Joe Pa... i think they figured out he was not going to quit until he gets a title... unfortunately the only streaks on his stat sheet are the poop stains in his drawers, and hopfully he will have one more pair to hang on the underwear tree on his drive back to happy valley!
2. Texas over Oklahoma State - good game to ponder. i would like for texas to loose, but they do look tough this year. even as much as i would like to see colt mccoy not save the day, i think they will pull this one off.
3. Georgia over LSU - LSU showed signs of weakness and I think Georgia will be able to head west and take them by surprise.
4. Florida State over Virginia Tech - i'll take florida state. the last time i was in virginia my band jebesn was playing a house party on a saturday night... unfortunately due to a mis-communication, the party was actually on friday. we played anyways, so it was just like all of our other shows with no one watching!
5. Wisconsin over Illinois - wisconsin has to win something, even though the officially lost their 'home field advantage'. i won't be surprised if ESPN makes up some stupid statistic about home team wins not counting games against OSU just to make it sound more interesting.
6. Kent State over Miami (not Florida) - my cousin dwyer went to kent read state. he didn't do much studying, but he discovered the art of brewing and introduced me to a 'fist full of steel' (his first homebrew made in a college apartment bathtub) . my life (and stomach) has never been the same since.
