What to Expect

The running defense of Illinois has not been tested. OSU should run the ball until Illinois can effectively show they can stop the run. I also expect OSU to have some big returns on special teams. Against Illinois, Indiana was able to return the opening kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown. South Dakota St. had 25 yards/kickoff return, while Western Michigan benefited by an average of 26 returns yards on the kickoffs. OSU may take one of the kickoffs all the way for a touchdown. I expect Ohio State to have 200 yards on the ground and 150 yards passing. Illinois will be limited to 160 rushing yards and 150 passing yards. It sounds like Miller is close to 100%, but I imagine OSU will limit his running. It remains to be seen if Boom Herron will get consistent touches at running back. In Big Ten action it appears Carlos Hyde is better suited, but Jordan Hall can catch the ball when given the chance. OSU has struggled at Illinois (sometimes due to wind), especially when the Buckeyes are favored. OSU will pull the upset and win 24-17.
