Mel Kiper's Hair is happy to be back for a third/fourth? (he can't remember) season of Buckeye Pre-game pick-em! Perhaps this will be the year his planetary prognosticating purview finally pays dividends. Good luck to all the panellists:

Football: Northwestern will be a sleeper in the Big Ten Race this year: This means they will finish in the Top 4.

Person of the week: My brother. Turned 30, got engaged, setting himself up in a nice business model. Really happy for him.
1. Ohio State - How good is this year's Buckeye squad? ... I don't think this game will answer that question.
2. Clemson - And so begins another season of high hopes for the Tigers, to be dashed in late October.
3. LSU - I would very much like to pick TCU, but I just don't see it.
4. Northwestern - Don't sleep on NU this season.
5. Boise State - All of Boise State's success, and they still have to play non-con games on the road...
6. Troy - Sure.

1) OSU. BRING THE BUFFALO BILLS DOWN AND WE'LL STILL WIN.

Ohio State, and this one has 41-14 (anyone recognize that score???) written all over it.
Georgia - my pick for last years National Champ, but not this year. Both defenses will get gouged by two top notch QBs
LSU - Frogs went 4-5 last year stepping up to Big 12 (or however many teams are in the league now...) play. They'd go 1-7 in the Sec this year. That 1 would NOT be vs LSU...
Northwestern - Fitzgerald gets the scouting report for us in two weeks. Meyers Grad Assts will be busy breaking down film from this game, on both squads. Two OSU-NW games are a distinct possibility this year, after not having played the Cats since '08.
Washington - Two straight years of severe graduation losses, and playing on The Sound, too much for Broncos to overcome
Troy - hey, we've seen these two powerhouses in The Shoe the past five years!!

1. Ohio State over Buffalo - I'm still bitter that it's a lottery for the alumni tickets and we always get shitty pre-season (even though they are not really pre-anything anymore) games just to get an email rhe next dat that conference games are one sale to the public! OSU really knows how to make us proud... Oh well... I'll still buy tickets next year... and the next year...
2. Clemson over Georgia - would this really be considered an upset? Pre-season rankings are pretty much worthless.
3. LSU over TCU - may depend on if the Mad Hatter provides 'internal discipline' to his lead rusher during this game or against some other small time program when it's convenient!
4. Northwestern over California - Cal's last few years remind me of the Mud Dogs before they had Bobby Boucher!
5. Boise St. over Washington - new stadium, same shitty QB, same shitty interceptions at key moments.
6. UAB over Troy - I wonder if Blaze the Dragon's theme song is as cool as Trogdor's? TRRROOOOGGGDDDOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

LSU, the horned frogs always have trickery, but LSU is a load.

Everyone's favorite Ukrainian hog returns for another season of prognostication on the Buckeye Pregame Blogspot, looking to defend and improve upon his regular season title of 2012. Funtik won't mention that he still has yet to receive his t-shirt (size XXXXXL) or his certificate of awesomeness from the Guest Panel Moderator, but I guess that's what happens when one has a little Guest Panel Moderator to take care of. Funtik has yet to select his College Football Mancrush of the Year for 2013, but that prestigious honor will be bestowed in the weeks to come. Not to worry dear readers, the Clairvoyant Snout Bucket Rummage Pick of the Week will be taking place this week and every week.
Ohio State def. Buffalo: I wonder how large the check is/was that the University of Buffalo Athletics Director will be getting for the punishment that his football team is due to receive on Saturday at noon in Central Ohio.
Clemson def. Georgia: One of Funtik's steadfast rules of prognostication is when in doubt, go with the SEC team in an SEC vs. non-SEC match-up. Well, I guess rules were meant to be broken. These early season non-conference match-ups are always so hard to predict, as one really has nothing to go on other than preseason rankings, home-field advantage, and hunches. 49% of me would not be surprised to see Georgia win this game by double digits.
LSU def. TCU: Well, Funtik's SEC vs. non-SEC rule does apply in most cases...mark this game down as Funtik the Hog's Clairvoyant Snout Bucket Rummage Pick of the Week for Week #1 of the Buckeye Pregame Guest Panel 2013 Season.
Northwestern def. California: If Funtik had to pick a second favorite team in the Big Ten (well, at least until Maryland joins in the 2014 season), it'd have to be Northwestern. Just a gosh darn fun team to watch, and they always seem to play the Buckeyes tough.
Boise St. def. Washington: In checking out the game preview on ESPN.com, there are a lot of players with crazy hyphenated names in this game. I have much sympathy for the TV/radio announcers working this game.
Troy def. UAB: If the 12 Facebook comments on the ESPN.com game preview for this game tell me anything, it's that no one cares about this game at all. On a side note, this game will be played at the legendary Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium. So does that mean the stadium is dedicated to the veteran employees of Movie Gallery? Or that Movie Gallery was the lucky company to pony up the money to get the naming rights for this stadium?
