USA Today Preseason Poll Released

Yesterday the preseason poll was released. The top five has OSU at #1, Texas at #2, Notre Dame and USC tied at #3 and Oklahoma at #5. Other Big Ten teams listed were Michigan at #15, Iowa at #17 and Penn State at #19 with Minnesota, Purdue and Northwestern unranked but with votes. Do I think OSU deserves #1? Yes, anyone that watched the team at the end of last year knows they were one of the strongest teams in the country, possibly the best team. However a #1 ranking puts a big target on the player's backs, and every opposing team will give OSU their best effort in an attempt to bring down the highest ranked team in the country. Now most of you can probably look ahead to September 9th and see the potential for a #1 OSU at #2 Texas. I won't speculate on that game yet, but I am sure the folks at ABC are ready to cover that night game.
