1. W: OSU - I want to see some mad rushing because I’m still not convinced that we can get a damn first down when it's third and short/long/anything without throwing a 40 yard bomb!
2. W: Iowa - gotta give love to the conference, but this should be a close match up
3. W: Nevada
4. W: Nebraska - looked pretty good last week, will be a nice addition to the big 10/11/12 or whatever the conference is called now...
5. W: Texas - it’s hard to pick against a home team at night, but without Mike Leach at the helm, I doubt the TT pirate ship will sail very far into Texas field position!
6. W: Troy

Old Bag of Man hereby proclaims these picks:
1) The real OHIO will win this weekend. OSU that is. Sorry Ohio Robercats.

2) Iowa. Even Lute Olsen can't save this team.

3) Why all the west coast games Joe? I almost care about them. I'll take California.

4) Nebraska. Here's to the future Big 10.

5) Texas. Tech has to be missing their crazy coach by now.

6) Troy.

1. Ohio State over Ohio - To continue the trend, 5 picks Saturday by the Buckeye defense.
2. Arizona over Iowa - Arizona is trying to break free from a lifetime of mediocrity, or worse. They may not be all the way there, but they'll get up from this game.
3. Cal over Nevada - Cal's not bad.
4. Nebraska over Washington - I am a big fan of Jake Locker--have been since I first saw him put up a great fight as a frosh against OSU in 2007--but I think Nebraska's D is too strong.
5. Texas over Texas Tech - Yawn.
6. Troy over UAB - Double Yawn.

I know, I know. I took a risk last week and picked FL State with the upset and I'm paying for it now. It won't happen again this week.

1. Ohio State - Shout out to Harry Chance for the good seats and company at the Miami game last week. I get to do it again this week too in what is most likely my second, and last, game of the season. Go Bucks!

2. Iowa - There will not be an upset in this game. The Big Ten is looking good this year and even though AZ at night is a very tough place to play, the Hawkeyes will make it work.

3. Nevada - This is actually looking like a tough pick. The WAC has done pretty well this year against the competition. Cal is not ranked so that means they must have taken some kind of a loss. I like the Wolf Pack at night.

4. Nebraska - Hello Big 10, Goodbye Pac 10. I thought Jake Locker was supposed to be good this year.

5. Texas - There will be no three way tie this season in the Big 12.

6. Troy - They typically surprise a few people every once in a while. They almost beat OK State last week.

Batman:

1. OSU
2. Iowa
3. Cal
4. Neb
5. Tex
6. Troy

This has truly been the toughest week of picks I've ever done. I am only confident on one pick, Ohio State.

I am going with Iowa because of coaching, California because of their offense and defense that has been praised, Nebraska for their power running game, Texas because they are Texas and I won't pick against them, and Troy because this is a young team trying to make a statement game on the road.

Today's shout out: Oberlin. They won their first game in thrilling fashion in OT at Kenyon 29-26 on September 4. Stud cornerback/safety Eric Enrico had 10 tackles.

OSU continues its streak of wins against in-state teams. Buckeyes 48 OU 0…next…

Iowa goes to the desert and wins. Ricki Stanzi will don his Captain America outfit and give a post game victory speech highlighting the immigration cluster f*** going on down there.

Cal also goes to the desert and eeks out a victory. Away from home they’re a 2.5 point favorite. Will Nevada have as potent a passing attack as last year?

Nebraska spanks Washington. Will the Cornhusker and Big 10 bound defense manage to stop Jake Locker in beautiful Washington State? Magic 8 ball says….Signs Point to Yes.

Texas raids Texas Tech. For the record…is there ANYBODY who thinks Adam James isn’t a ‘lazy and entitled’ brat still clinging to the parental teat? Mike Leach for president!

Troy beats UAB. Didn’t bother to spend time in analysis on this one….here’s to being 0-3 in the oddballs at weeks end!

Pat Head is a bit depressed this week after all of the discouraging articles Moderator Joe has sent her about her Vols.

Perhaps I need to convert to being a Big 10 fan since I'm pretty sure the SEC sucks this year...except for Alabama.

1. OSU over Ohio
2. Iowa over Arizona - I'm not confident in this pick.
3. California over Nevada
4. Nebraska over Washington - their almost a Big 10 team right?
5. Texas over Texas Tech - I haven't really heard much about Texas this year, but I suspect Mack Brown will have his team ready to face the Red Raiders.
6. Troy over UAB

Carl's Stone Cold Lead Pipe Locks of the Century (of the Week) for Week #3:

OSU def. Ohio: I can't say I'm totally down with the whole "Seven Nation Army" chant at each OSU kickoff at the Horseshoe. It reeks of plagarism; as my esteemed colleague Buckeye Cock commented, "Jump Around" between the 3rd and 4th quarters at Camp Randall in Wisconsin is much better, and a lot more original. Fellow Guest Panelists, thoughts, opinions, ideas?

Iowa def. Arizona: The Wildcats may have the much better lookin' co-eds (Carl can testify to this personally, hehehehe!), the nicer campus, the terrific weather, but the better college football team?! Not so much...

California def. Nevada: Best offense in the nation vs. best defense in the nation. This one should be fun to watch! As the immortal, immaculate, and well-groomed T.O. once said, "Getcha popcorn ready!"

Nebraska def. Washington: Mr. Esteemed Guest Panel Moderator, I'm noticing a pattern here...three straight games involving Pac-10 teams? Are you cheating on your first love of the Michigan directional teams? Anyways...since when did Nebraska get so highly ranked?!?! Take the over in this game gamblers. On another note, I'm still not entirely sold on the hype that is Jake "The Hurt" Locker (expect Carl to make that same stupid joke/pun any time there's a game involving Washington this season...hey, it was a damn good movie!).

Texas def. Texas Tech: The ol' Battle of Texas...not the greatest amount of confidence in this pick though. The Longhorns are 3-3 in their last 6 games at Lubbock. The Red Raiders won in 2008, so, by that logic, the Longhorns win this season.

Troy def. UAB: Carl should save himself some time and agony and just go with the home team in each oddball game, seeing as he's already 0-2 picking such games (and 8-2 in every other team) so far this season. Par for the course with these oddball games, I guess...but, the Trojans of Troy should hopefully handle the Blazers of UAB easily (BTW, a Dragon mascot for a team nickname of the Blazers; WTF?!?!). On another note, 3 oddball games so far, and NO games involving any of the Michigan directional teams? What gives, Mr. Moderator?!?!
