OSU Last Week

In only the 10th night game in stadium history, OSU beat Marshall 45-7.

Offense
Pryor led with 247 yards passing and three touchdowns. Saine lead the team with 103 yards rushing, with 45-yard and 40-yard runs and two touchdowns. Second in rushing was Jamaal Berry in his first game with 80 yards. Also getting some action in the running game was Dan Herron with 44 yards, Jordan Hall with 32 yards, Pryor with 17, Carlos Hyde with 4, and Kenny Guiton with 4. Receivers Dane Sanzenbacher and DeVier Posey combined had 154 yards and three touchdowns. Tight end Jake Stonebrunner had a career high three catches for 41 yards. Grant Swartz had three catches for 20 yards. The best pass of the game was to Sanzenbacher for 65-yard TD in the first quarter.

Defense
The defense forced three turnovers and limited Marshall to 199 yards of offense. The only score allowed was on special teams, not defense. Brian Rolle returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown and gave OSU a 35-7 lead at halftime. There were four Marshall fumbles and OSU recovered two, including Chekwa forcing a fumble inside the 10-yard line with Ross Homan recovering.

Special Teams
The struggles of special teams last year continued into the opener. The one bright spot was in the first play of the game, OSU forced a fumble on the first kickoff. Later in the quarter a 53-yard field goal attempt by OSU was blocked and run back untouched 60 yards for seven points. The struggles continued as a PAT was partially blocked, although it went through the uprights. Also OSU allowed Marshall to return the ball a total of 173 yards in kickoff returns, although the Marshall offense didn't do anything with the good field position. Devin Barclay did make a 34-yard field goal.
