Roster Notes-Special Teams

Kicker
Sophomore Drew Basil only had two FG attempts last season and they were both blocked. Basil backed up Barclay last year for FGs and PATs, and he is known for having a strong leg.

Punter
Ben Buchanan will start for a second year at punter. His average last year was 41 yards.

Special Teams
OSU finally assigned a coach to special teams, after this unit struggled last year, especially against kick returns. Dick Tressel, the running backs coach, will also coach special teams. Basil will again handle kick-offs, and he worked on his hang time during the off-season to limit kick return yardage. Returning kicks will be Jordan Hall and Chris Fields, and most likely Jaamal Berry once he is healthy. Hall will also return punts. UPDATE: Jordan Hall has been suspended for the first game, so Corey "Philly" Brown will likely take his place in punt returns, and Evan Spencer and Devin Smith will take his place for kick returns.
